Principal Project Manager - Transportation

Our Mott MacDonald team is in the market for aVice President Transportation that will serve as the Division Leader in Florida to participate in and support the development and implementation of strategic client engagement and growth plans for the Florida. This role will also provide leadership in new hire talent acquisition for Transportation design professionals in all levels of production and marketing / business development in Florida.

Responsibilities include:



  • Collaborate with division leadership to maintain strong focus and ensure we deliver against business plans and strategies.
  • Develop account management plans and building pursuit pipelines focused on the identified key accounts.
  • Serve as the Bid Manager, Project Manager or Project Principal in proposals when needed to increase win probabilities.
  • Identify and recruiting project managers and key staff for key positions for design projects
  • Available to utilize technical skills and resume to assist in positioning for and winning work with key clients.
  • Drive key customer interactions and engagement and hold assigned key client relationships at a senior level.
  • Role model and champion the use ofMottMacDonald's CAPTURE and WIN processes for new projects and pursuits.
  • Ability to work with CRM for account and opportunity tracking, pipeline health, resource planning.
  • Support proposal and interview preparation efforts, to ensure the development of strategic, customized proposal responses, including understanding of the scope, plan, approach, past performance, and personnel.
  • Closely collaborate with Divisional leadership to maintain strong focus and ensure we deliver against business plans and strategies.
  • Be accountable for proposal budgets.

Required Qualifications



  • Bachelor's degree in civil engineering from an ABET accredited university.
  • Minimum 15 years of experience in roadway/highway engineering
  • Florida professional engineering (PE) registration
  • Experience managing and designing conventional and design-build projects relating to intersections, arterials, interstates, and interchanges for FDOT and municipal clients.
  • Working knowledge of MicroStation, Geopak, and/or OpenRoads Designer
  • Experience working with large multi-discipline teams and will assist in growing Florida Design team.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Excellent organizational skills with attention to detail and overall quality control and management


Preferred Qualifications



  • Has Engineer of Record experience in a wide variety of FDOT design and design build / Alternate delivery highway projects, including Limited Access Highways, Tolled Expressways, Urban Arterial Reconstruction and Widenings, and Milling & Resurfacings.
  • Has Engineer of Record experience in a wide variety of Municipal design transportation projects, including Transit, local collector roadways, neighborhood streets, trails, and pedestrian mobility projects.
  • Has experience delivering FDOT District Wide and/or Continuing Services Contracts.
  • Has experience delivering Municipal GEC and/or task work order services Contracts.
  • Has well-established FDOT and Municipal contacts within respective geography.
