Your New Role:
NORF Companies is seeking an experienced Accounting Manager in the New Orleans, LA area. You can find out more about NORF at www.NORFcompanies.com. As the Accounting Manager, you will lead NORF Companies accounting function in applying generally accepted accounting principles (GAAP) to analyze financial information, reconcile financial statements, prepare general and standard journal entries, assist in budget development, and prepare standard accounting and financial reports for management. You will need to be a self-starter with excellent interpersonal skills. You will report to the Director of Development.

What you'll be doing in your new role:
  • Supervise supporting roles by training team members, and managing their performance in accordance with Company policies, values, and business practices
  • Manage/perform daily, monthly, quarterly, and yearly accounting operations
  • Cash management
  • Transfer funds between accounts
  • Bank reconciliations
  • Create weekly cash reports
  • Create short term cash projections
  • Track and process loan payments
  • Track and process rent collections
  • Track and record interest on notes issued
  • Facilitate bank draws
  • Accounts Receivable
  • Accounts Payable
  • Process payments to third party and affiliates
  • Work with CPAs to complete annual tax returns & audit
  • Internal review of tax returns and audit prior to finalizing
  • Compliance testing
  • Create and issue quarterly lender reports
  • Calculate and issue investor/partner distributions
  • Calculate capital calls for investors/partners
  • Create ad hoc reports
  • Participate in team meetings to discuss processes and procedures
  • Co-manage Administrative Assistant to assist with all above items
  • Establish annual goals and objectives for the accounting team, establish workflows for effective and efficient completion of tasks, and implement process and procedural improvements to streamline work, increase productivity, and maintain excellent service and quality
  • Oversee and approve financial transactions and information
  • Approve budget, revenue, expenses, payroll entries, invoices, mortgage payments and distributions, and other accounting documents
  • Research and resolve accounting discrepancies as necessary
  • Develop and implement accounting procedures by analyzing revenue and expense trends and recommend appropriate budget levels to ensure expenditure control
  • Ensure customer satisfaction by responding to requests from owners, business leaders, property managers, and others related to financial reports, statements, and established budgets
  • Complete various financial, accounting, administrative reports and analysis, and perform other duties as assigned or as necessary

What You'll Need to Succeed:
* BS / BA in Accounting, Finance, or a related field required.
* Solid working knowledge of QuickBooks software required.
* Three or more years of real estate or construction accounting management experience preferred.
* Education and/or training in the management of large amounts of information.
* Strong analytical skills, with the ability to review data and convert that to construction-related knowledge.
* Well-developed verbal and written communication skills.
