General Information:

The Facilities Management Department at James Madison University is accepting applications for an HVAC Repair Senior Technician. This is a day shift position with rotating on-call responsibilities.

Duties and Responsibilities:

Duties include but are not limited to:
*Performs repairs and maintenance of HVAC and refrigeration systems and related equipment.
*Completes inspection on equipment and repairs problems in timely manner.
*Documents refrigerant usage for EPA records.
*Properly installs equipment to code.
*Provides input for the replacement of HVAC and refrigeration systems, when needed.
*Performs seasonal maintenance on HVAC and refrigeration systems to provide reliable and efficient operation.
*Follows JMU and manufacturer's procedures.
*Assists associates when needed.
*Assists with training of other technicians.
*Responsible for managing jobs, ordering needed parts, keeping tools and equipment in good working condition.
*Effectively manages time.
*Keeps shop, parts, materials and paperwork organized.
*Cleans and services tools and tests equipment.

Qualifications:

*The successful candidate must have considerable demonstrated working knowledge of HVAC, refrigeration and related equipment.
*Demonstrated ability to use various test instruments to troubleshoot and repair HVAC and refrigeration systems and to repair such systems and equipment.
*This position requires effective organizational skills, attention to detail and a positive attitude.
*Must have effective skills in communicating clear and concise instructions both verbally and in writing.
*The ability to assist other technicians and also have the ability to work independently.
*Must be available for on-call/overtime
*Candidates must have Universal Refrigerant Recovery Certification.
*Candidate must be at least 19 years old and have a valid drivers license for a minimum of 24 months.
