Structural Engineer - Early Career

Shive-Hattery's Bettendorf, IA office is seeking a Design Professional - Structural; an early-career position with 3-7 years of experience. Qualifications

• Education: Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering with an emphasis on Structural Engineering.
• License/Certification: PE License is preferred, but not required. Candidate should have passed the Fundamentals Of Engineering (FE) exam and designation as an Engineer Intern (EI) with interest in obtaining a Professional Engineer (PE) license with in the next year.
• Relevant experience in steel and concrete is essential; experience with wood and masonry is a plus.
• Experience with Revit, 3D software (Navisworks/Recap), structural engineering design software, and Microsoft Office is preferred.

Preferred Qualifications:

• Strong attention to detail and ability to collaborate effectively within teams from other disciplines.
• Excellent time management, planning, and organizational skills.
• Strong oral and written communication skills; ability to present design solutions confidently.
• Master's in Structural Engineering is preferred but not required.
• Ability to pass drug and background screenings required for work at most industrial sites.

• Design structural solutions for industrial, commercial, and educational projects, with a primary focus on industrial sectors.
• Collaborate with experienced engineers, technicians, and multi-disciplinary teams to deliver high-quality designs for our long-standing industrial clients both locally and nationally.
• Provide support in design and drawing production within the structural discipline.
• Perform shop drawing reviews, field data collection, and field data entry.
• Handle multiple projects simultaneously in a fast-paced environment.
• Work under the guidance and mentorship of licensed structural engineers.
• Participate in site visits, which may require driving, climbing ladders, working on elevated platforms, and wearing PPE specific to client sites.
• Travel occasionally, including some overnight stays, as needed.
