SYSTEMS DESIGN ENGINEER

THE ROLE:

We are looking for a dynamic, energetic Systems Design Engineer to join our growing team. As a key contributor to the success of AMD's products, you will be part of a leading team to drive and improve AMD's abilities to deliver the highest quality, industry-leading technologies to market. The Systems Design Engineering team fosters and encourages continuous technical innovation to showcase successes as well as facilitate continuous career development.

As a member on our server / data center system validation team, drive system validation engineering efforts for next generation AMD server roadmap products. Lead the effort develop validation test plans, strategy, and tests for post silicon validation as well as execute them on next-gen server products. Drive engineering effort and successful partnership with internal partners in server system engineering to deliver great quality products with predictable cadence. The mission of this role is to drive excellence in validation coverage and minimize test escapes with a keen eye on automation for test execution.

As a key engineer on our team, you will work on test plan and execution for system validation as well as analyze, configure, and propose improvement to current practices to achieve efficient validation methodology for system and stress validation.

THE PERSON:

An experienced lead engineer with background in soc and system validation. The candidate must possess complex ASIC core & Post-Silicon/Validation experience and should demonstrate abilities to develop and execute end-to-end solutions to configure next-gen SoC/systems for system validation. Knowledge on server & data-center eco-system internals like OS drivers, system applications and use cases, benchmarking as well as power management and I/O sub-systems. Ability to understand HW-SW co-validation and hands-on experience in UEFI/BIOS and system firmware.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Gain expertise on system and stress validation as we execute state of the art validation methodology and tests to provide best in class validation coverage on sever products at AMD. Drive continuous improvements in system validation based on the next generation products as well as other key internal stakeholder requirements. While executing tests/test plans on AMD products, apply key learnings from previous projects.

PREFERRED EXPERIENCE:

  • Programming/scripting skills (e.g., C/C++, Perl, Ruby, Python).
  • Debug techniques and methodologies
  • Experience with common lab equipment, including protocol/logic analyzers, oscilloscopes, etc.
  • Experience with board/platform-level debug, including delivery, sequencing, analysis, and optimization
  • Knowledge of system architecture, technical debug, and validation strategies
  • Prefer prior experience with: client PC or server system design and validation, CPU/SoC and platform bring-up; OS based testing tools and environments, hardware debugging using post-silicon tools as well OS based debug, failure resolution and tracking. Customer engagement experience with OEM/ODM for Client Products a plus.
  • Prefer familiarity with: Computer Architecture concepts and silicon features; Microsoft Operating Systems, Linux Operating Systems, virtualization software (VMware, Xen, et al), and validation/certification processes; system component compatibility; stress testing; system power management testing, I/O and multimedia validation.
  • Along with a degree, 4+ years of proven experience relevant to the role.

  • Bachelors or Masters degree in electrical or computer engineering
