Position Summary

The University of New Mexico's Project ECHO has a great opportunity for a Sr. Fiscal Services Tech to join our Finance Team!

The Project ECHO Accounting Team oversees an estimated budget of approximately $38 million. This position will support Project ECHO's mission by ensuring all funds received and spent are in compliance with the University Policies and Procedures, as well as the agencies' requirements.

As a successful Sr. Fiscal Services Tech, you will play an active role in:

  • Assisting departments with purchasing for domestic and international travel, supplies, memberships, conferences, etc.
  • Assisting with Travel purchases and take lead role in booking international and domestic travel, submitting the ChromeRiver Expense Report and travel reimbursement when the traveler returns, and any follow-up required with the trip.
  • Assisting with creating Purchase Orders in Lobomart, processing monthly invoices, resolving any problems or questions that arise and reconciling PCard transaction.
  • Interacting with department personnel using email, Slack, or Zoom regarding policies and assisting with questions as needed.
  • Serving as liaison with vendors on any questions that arise with purchase orders, invoices, and travel.
  • Assisting with correcting any errors using a Journal Voucher, EPAF, or a PHAREDS.
  • Reviewing spreadsheet tracking for Purchase Orders monthly and providing feedback to the accountant.
  • Verifying invoices have been paid by reviewing Banner and reaching out to vendors or program team if missing invoices.
  • Assisting with monitoring expenditures for awards ensuring spending is following University Policies and Procedures and standard accounting procedures.
  • Reconciling accounts and the burn rate report to ensure that the grants spend rate is on target and the correct entries are recorded on the appropriate index.
  • Performing miscellaneous job-related duties as assigned.

Conditions of Employment

Minimum Qualifications

High school diploma or GED; at least 5 years of experience directly related to the duties and responsibilities specified.

Completed degree(s) from an accredited institution that are above the minimum education requirement may be substituted for experience on a year for year basis.



Preferred Qualifications
  • Knowledge of UNM travel Policies and Procedures
  • Experience in completing and managing travel requests
  • Proficient with in-person, electronic, and phone-based customer service
  • Experience in purchasing, P-Cards
  • Experience in LoboMart, ChromeRiver, Banner, and Smartsheets
  • Experience with invoice and purchase order reconciliation
  • Proficient in MS Office Suite
