XRD Geologist II

SUMMARY
Analyzes, evaluates and interprets geological data obtained by various methodsand techniques to provide clientswith accurate descriptions and characteristics of reservoirs.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Analyze and interpret XRD diffraction patterns and generate XRD data tables and reports.
  • Integrates analyses with other geological/geochemical parameters and generates reports.
  • Maintains an active role in professional and industry associations and organizations to stay abreast of technical development and industry needs.
  • Present information in one-on-one and small group situations to customers, clients, management, and other employees of the organization.
  • Interact with clients and customers, explaining data results and answering inquiries.
  • Oversee laboratory staff.
  • Other duties as assigned.
QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS
  • Master's degree in geology or related field or B.Sc. with appropriate industry experience required.
  • 3 + years of directly related experience required.
  • Must be computer literate with working knowledge of MS Office and XRD software (MDI Jade, TOPAS, etc.)
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
  • 5+ years deep understanding of whole rock and clay mineralogy and aspects of diagenesis.
  • Experience in both semi-quantitative and quantitative XRD mineralogy by RIR,
  • Rietveld Refinement, and/or whole pattern fit.
  • Experience with and integration of other analytical techniques such as XRF,
  • SEM, Organic Geochemistry, etc.
  • Previous work experience in high-paced, high volume laboratory a plus.

  • Proven track record of successfully managing operations and driving business growth.
  • Ability to write routine reports and correspondence

  • Ability to read, analyze and interpret technical and scientific journals, technical procedures, or government regulations.
  • Ability to respond to inquiries or complaints from clients.
  • Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, decimals, calculate area, circumference, and volume.
  • Ability to compute rate, ratio and percent and interpret various graphs used to analyze data.
  • Ability to apply mathematical operations to such tasks as determination of test reliability, validity, analysis of variance, correlation techniques, and sampling theory.
  • Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where limited standardization exists
  • Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.
  • Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions.
  • Ability to apply principles of logical or scientific thinking to a wide range of geological data problems.
  • Ability to deal with formulas, scientific equations, and graphs.
