Summary:

Beiersdorf Inc. is seeking an enthusiastic individual who will challenge the status quo to guide us in achieving excellence in marketing, simplify our business processes, build trust with colleagues and partners and show care to our customers and consumers. This role will drive both short- and long-term brand strategy while supervising day-to-day operations and leading marketing plans, including advertising/communication development, integrated channel strategy, go-to-market execution, value engineering, brand identity and investment strategy for the Coppertone Sun Care business in the U.S. This role reports to the Coppertone Business Unit Vice President and has two direct reports (Senior Brand Manager & Senior Packaging Service Lead) in a three-member brand team.

Responsibilities:

  • Drives long term brand strategy, positioning & brand architecture. Ensures brand strategy is communicated, understood, and implemented by all cross-functional groups.
  • Lead development of the brand's annual marketing plans to achieve top line sales, profit and spending objectives. Collaborate with Internal Media Team, Shopper & Customer Marketing (S&CM), Sales, Consumer Marketing Insights, eCommerce, and Agency Partners to implement tactical plans.
  • Lead development of brand communication platform via creative agency collaboration and supervise the development and execution of media communications (Digital & OOH) and brand integrations.
  • Strong digital marketing acuity to drive digital centric marketing strategy for the brand, optimizing the existing mix and having test and learn mentality across the digital platform, working closely with Director of Integrated Media Team as well as agency partners.
  • Strong commercial understanding, and partnership with S&CM and Sales in order to drive/optimize the commercial side of the business.
  • Partners with Sales and S&CM teams to define and drive Commercial strategy & execution in the marketplace.
  • Responsible for the commercial team's implementation of all plans in market for the sun market's main season (Summer)
  • Focus on ongoing market & business analysis and key initiatives tracking. Proactively address based upon relevant findings or market variations (opportunity and/or challenges).
  • Partner with Director for Sales Strategy to uncover growth drivers in sun care category.
  • Lead development of short term and 3+ year consumer centric innovation strategy and pipeline in partnership with consumer insights, global, and R&D. Responsible for leading new products through stage gate process from concept to opportunity sizing through commercialization
  • Responsibility for P&L management, leading development of brand financial building blocks, the annual financial planning process, S&OP demand review meetings and accountable for approving the brand forecast, budget management and T&E for the team.
  • Lead together with the project leader the implementation and roadmap development of Value Engineering strategy.
  • Lead and safeguard Coppertone's brand identity & lead artwork processes.

Cross-functional Team Responsibility

  • Partners with Cross Functional Coppertone Steering Team with Sun Care focused team members in Finance, Revenue Growth Management, Shopper Customer Marketing, Sales Strategy, Direct Distribution Sales Team, eCommerce and Supply Chain specialists
  • Partners with North America R&D Sun Care Team to drive Coppertone innovation agenda

Experience & Technical skills

  • In depth P&L management skills: Strong bias for business growth with proven profitability/efficiency driving experience
  • Good balance between marketing strategy and commercial understanding - equally strategic from a broader view perspective, as well as highly analytical
  • Strong experience in Marketing Management: From strategy development to execution
  • Brand equity building, long term strategy development, brand architecture & innovation management, communication development, marketing plan execution
  • Critical thinker with the ability to analyse market, business & consumer trends and proactively translate them into focused strategies and action plans
  • Strong Commercial competence (Sales, Shopper & Customer Marketing): Commercial strategy & execution
  • Requires familiarity with management of seasonal brands/ business units. Sun Care category understanding highly desired.
  • Governance and management of the competing priorities of cross-functional and cross-business agenda: Knows how to operate in a Matrix organization
  • Minimum of 12+ years brand management experience in fast moving consumer packaged goods environment and OTC's
  • Ideal candidate would have sun care and or seasonal consumer package goods experience in the US
  • Fluent in English
