Description

The Zoological Society of Milwaukee (the Society) is seeking a Development Coordinator to join a fun and talented team of professionals in supporting one of the most cherished community assets - the Milwaukee County Zoo. Under the direction of the Senior Director of Development, this position provides a wide range of administrative and project support to help facilitate the goals and objectives of the Development Department.

This is a full-time position eligible for a competitive benefits package, including health insurance, complimentary dental, vision, life, STD and LTD coverage, 401k with up to a 5% match, PTO, paid holidays, and a complimentary zoo pass, up to the family level.

RESPONSIBILITIES



  • Provide a wide range of administrative and project support for the Development Department including scheduling of meetings (including logistics), preparing materials, correspondence and reports.
  • Support and track efforts related to the donor stewardship system including donor recognition, timely expression of thanks and annual incentives.
  • Prepare and send appropriate acknowledgements.
  • Conduct and prepare research materials for existing and prospective donors.
  • Provide database maintenance/entry to ensure accurate and up-to-date financial reports, staff assignment reports, pledge tracking, and major gift planning tracks.
  • Update and correct database records and maintain accurate paper and electronic files for all donors.
  • Assist with processing department invoices, including data entry, verification of accuracy, and ensuring timely payment.
  • Perform steps related to the Creative Department process in designing invitations, signs, programs etc. that coincide with department needs.
  • Support and attend development stewardship, cultivation and fundraising events (as needed).



QUALIFICATIONS



  • High School Diploma and a minimum of four years related experience, preferably in a nonprofit environment or related field.
  • Strong computer skills including knowledge of Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook and Smartsheet.
  • Knowledge of operation of standard office equipment.
  • Knowledge of clerical and administrative procedures and systems such as filing and record keeping.
  • Focus on attention to detail and accuracy, such as proof reading.
  • Exceptional organizational and communication skills.
  • Strong customer service skills.
  • Ability to work under pressure, handle multiple tasks simultaneously and prioritize tasks.
  • Ability to effectively handle a broad range of interpersonal contacts, including those confidential and sensitive in nature.
  • An understanding of database management and a willingness to learn the organization's system (Tessitura).
  • Ability to be flexible and work as part of a team.
  • Ability to work occasional evening and weekend events.
