Ameresco is looking for an experienced Senior Project Financial Analyst who will be responsible for a full range of financial and project analysis and reporting, reporting to the Senior Manager of Business Finance, and providing support to the business units. This key position will own project accounting for a business unit which consists of energy efficiency projects, ongoing maintenance projects and of a portfolio of investments, primarily Solar.This individual will be responsible for communication via monthly project status reviews or other means with project managers and business unit leaders, preparing monthly and quarterly reports and schedules, supporting the monthly and quarterly forecast process, and ongoing accounting and audit support. The Senior Project Financial Analyst will help maintain project accounting policies and procedures and ensure that the books are closed timely and in accordance with U.S. GAAP for the business units.The ideal candidate will have a strong foundation in applying GAAP and working cross-functionally with different teams and individuals at all levels. They will have General Ledger experience preferably at a public company. The right candidate must be agile in managing multiple work efforts.

Responsibilities:

  • Partner with multiple business units, to create and manage a service-oriented function that provides solutions for business challenges, including a full range of financial and project analysis and communication support, project costs and periodic reporting, reconciliations, monthly and quarterly project budget status schedules and analysis, project revenue and cost forecasting, and operating expense analysis and forecasting support.
  • Review and determine initial project setup in system with key stakeholders.
  • Perform monthly project reviews with Project Managers, Construction Directors, and Business Unit V.P.'s to review status of each project, analyze costs and cost accruals, prepare forecasts, adjust budgets, prepare final project analysis and closeouts. Review all project costs, project capitalized costs, and accruals.
  • Monitor and analyze performance of the portfolio of assets and assess for any asset impairment.
  • Monitor and analyze project revenues and costs to ensure complete and accurate cost accumulation and revenue recognition. Prepare revenue and cost adjustment entries with appropriate supporting information and work with the general accounting team processing in the correct accounting period. Ensure accurate and timely closing deadlines are achieved and in full compliance with US GAAP.
  • Perform Sarbanes-Oxley internal controls procedures to help ensure accurate financial statements
    Provide support for external SEC filings and financial statement audits
  • Interface with MS D-365 accounting system, Adaptive Insights planning system, Salesforce and other systems as required to ensure accurate documentation for organizational use and drive toward continuous process efficiency and improvement.
  • Foster a positive and effective customer and team-oriented work environment that facilitates collaborative relationships with the accounting operations teams to facilitate and drive businesscycle close processes and procedures, throughout Corporate Finance, and with Company business units; and
  • Perform other duties as required.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Bachelors in Finance or Accounting
  • Minimum of 5 Years' Experience in Project Accounting
  • Solid understanding of and experience in applying generally accepted accounting principles
  • Exceptional critical thinking and problem-solving capabilities
  • Must combine thorough attention to detail and accuracy with the ability to envision and explain the big picture
  • MS Office proficiency with advanced Excel experience

Additional Qualifications:

  • Experience working with MS D-365 and Adaptive Insights, or other similar financial and planning systems.
  • Superior data management and analytical skills working across multiple systems.
  • Ability to perform complex assignments under general guidance that lack precedent
  • Effective writing skills and experience communicating technical information in a succinct manner, including analysis and task documentation
  • Demonstrated ability to work both independently and in a collaborative team environment spanning multiple disciplines
  • Experience managing cross-functional processes as both a facilitator and technical resource
  • Ability to gain trust quickly and to maintain confidentiality and credibility with others at all levels within the organization
