Early Career Scientist, Geologist or Engineer

Geosyntec has an exciting opportunity for an Early Career Scientist, Geologist or Engineer as part of our groundwater remediation practice in our Columbus, Ohio office. The position will have the opportunity to apply their academic knowledge and technical skills to projects involving contaminated site assessment and remediation; environmental compliance; and forensic investigations and litigation support, while developing the business skills needed for a successful consulting career.

Field work, site investigation and characterization, including sediment, soil, surface water, air monitoring, and groundwater sampling, drilling, well installation, and contractor oversight;
• Providing contamination assessment services, such as designing and implementing sampling plans, bench scale testing, and pilot test programs;
• Data analysis/visualization of site investigation data including the preparation of tables, maps, and figures using both industry-standard and cutting-edge applications;
• Monitoring and oversight of site remediation and environmental construction projects;
• Conducting soil and groundwater remedy evaluation, cost estimating, design calculations and supporting remedial implementation;
• Preparation of written documents such as proposals, workplans and investigative reports; and
• Assisting in the development of proposals and other business development activities.

• Bachelor's degree in geology, hydrogeology, geochemistry, environmental engineering, civil engineering, or related field. (required)
• Advanced degree in the same. (preferred)

• Prior experience in contaminated media or remediation technologies. (preferred)
• Internship(s), co-op position, or prior work experience relevant to the position. (preferred)
• Demonstrated strong interest in site assessment and/or contaminant remediation. (required)
• Experience with visualization tools (AutoCAD, ArcGIS, Strader, Earth Visualization System [EVS], Leapfrog Works) and/or groundwater flow and geochemical modeling (Modflow, Geochemist's Workbench). (preferred)
• Experience with data management and analysis platforms such as Access, R, or Python.
• Strong oral and technical writing skills. (required)
• Regular field work and overnight travel. (required)
• Health & Safety training, medical monitoring, and client-driven drug and background testing. (required)
• Valid U.S. driver's license and a satisfactory driving record for business travel. (required)
