Dontech is a designer and manufacturer of optical filters, laminations and thin and thick film coatings for the precision optics, display, and touchscreen markets. We design, manufacture, and integrate custom components that enhance the performance of optical systems.
Summary (excerpted from the Job Description): Effectively develop, manage, and lead the hunting side of sales and new business development activities of Dontech, Inc. for products and services, such that the opportunity funnel is properly filled and overall revenue growth is sustained at 15% year over year with an overall operating profit of at least 15%. Maintain a clear vision of the markets Dontech serves, the products and services offered to those markets, and the most effective methods of taking these products and services to market. Assist with Dontech's overall Sales and Marketing activities as needed. Recommend new products and markets where Dontech could expand profitability and leverage its strengths. Fully support the New Business Development (NBD), Sales, and Engineering Structure & Program Management, Categories and Resources for Customers and Targets procedures, and the Dontech Sales Playbook.
Metrics: The Business Development Sales Director (BDSD) will be evaluated and measured upon the ability to meet and exceed the following metrics:
- Improve Dontech year over year overall annual New Business sales revenue by 15% with a minimum Operating profit of 15%.
- Assist and contribute to the Dontech Sales department in meeting their Sales goals.
- Assist the Dontech Operations department in meeting their overall profit and revenue goals.
- Improve and increase Dontech lead volume and quality, sales volume, market share, and market volume relative to market and penetration of market of its competitors.
- Meet or exceed Monthly, Quarterly, and Annual goals and objectives as outlined in the Dontech Strategic and BD plans.
Minimum Qualifications include the following:

Education and/or Experience:
- Master's Degree and an undergraduate degree in a scientific field, preferably in chemistry, chemical engineering, optical engineering, or physics.
- 10+ years of successful senior level leadership with marketing (desirable), business development, and sales experience in the industrial/engineering sector or defense or aerospace industry.
- Proven track record of managing Business Development, and technical sales, ideally including territory, custom technical product development and manufacturing, and management of Manufacturers' Representatives organizations.
- Demonstrated experience in building new business and/or extending services into new markets.
- Demonstrated experience in building strong client relationships at the highest organizational level.
- Experience with Lean, 6 Sigma, Kaizen and/or Value Stream Mapping manufacturing.
Other Skills and Abilities:
- Must be able to travel, occasionally on short notice, both domestically and internationally. Effective travel up to 50% of the time. If remote, must spend 2 weeks per quarter in home office.
- Excellent interpersonal, presentation, and communications skills, both oral and written.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office products, including but not limited to MS Project, Word, Excel, PowerPoint.
- Proficient in CRM management and other business management software.
- Problem analysis and problem resolution at both a strategic and functional level.
- Proficient in supporting and facilitating Dontech in the design, manufacturing, and integration of custom components that enhance the performance of demanding optical, electronic display, touchscreen, and optical and electronic assembly markets, from concept to final system delivery.
