What You'll Do



Summary/Objective:

The Consumer Lending Assistant Manager is responsible for effectively managing the department operations in all areas of Consumer Lending, including direct lending, indirect lending, student lending, underwriting, and consumer loan systems. In addition, this position will proactively identify, lead, and participate in technology transformation and process modernization initiatives.

* Assist with the management of the Consumer Loan operations including the direct supervision of Team Leaders, Loan Officers/Underwriters, Loan Specialists, Member Service Representatives, and Loan Assistants.
* Responsible for hiring, training, evaluating, developing, and disciplining subordinates within current policies and procedures.
* Responsible for ensuring all guidelines are adhered to within the origination, processing, underwriting, closing, funding, and quality control functions, as well as in compliance with all stated and federal laws and regulations.
* Effectively plan, organize, and supervise the workflow of the consumer lending department staff to ensure and maintain productivity in accordance to department standards.
* Set performance goals, provide timely review of progress, and maintain performance documentation. Develop staff through continuous coaching, training, and cross-training.
* Create and evaluate work flow processes to identify opportunity for improvement and greater efficiency and ensure compliance with all state and federal regulations and secondary market requirements.
* Monitor the Credit Union's underwriting policies and guidelines for effectiveness including individual Loan Officer review and analysis of delinquency.
* Maintain a complete knowledge of all the Credit Union's products/services with an emphasis on Direct, Student , Solar, and Indirect Lending loan policies, forms, and guidelines. Engage in consistent communication with the team to ensure team members are continuously updated on changes in products, policies, procedures and goals.
* Assist management in strategic planning of department activities including but not limited to, organization, staffing and budgeting.
* Review for approval/denial employee, official, or other special loans and member loans exceeding Loan Officer authority levels. Negotiate terms within the Credit Union's guidelines that will enable members to continuously improve their financial well-being.
* Working with the Consumer Loan Manager, maintain rates, policies, authorized users and security levels in the Credit Union's core system, loan origination systems, and all other third party loan originators.
* Perform a variety of additional duties including, but not limited to: conduct monthly staff meetings to train and review lending policies and procedures, oversee all loan and core systems testing efforts and upgrades, work with staff on Consumer Lending projects, and continuously look for ways to streamline the Consumer Loan processes such as decreasing turnaround time on loan decisions and increasing "look to book" and "approved to book" ratios.
* Perform other job-related duties as assigned by Managers(s).



What You'll Need



* Bachelor's Degree preferred or relevant work experience
* 5-7 years of leadership (team leader, assistant manager) and consumer lending experience (underwriting, servicing, loan processing and funding)
* Knowledge of state and federal compliance regulations
* Previous experience in a cross sell environment and/or call center
