Develops plans and leads engineering teams to ensure optimum use of time and resources and provides technical leadership, ensuring that team performance is aligned and contributes to the overall goals of the business unit. Serves as a subject matter expert and influencer to make complex decisions based on advanced analytical expertise to develop innovative solutions and supporting the decision-making process.

Nationality Requirements

Candidates must be eligible to obtain the relevant security clearance required for the role, due to the nature of the programmes we deliver for our customers.

Job Description

Applies a breadth and depth of engineering skills to develop engineering solutions to complex problems within time, cost, and quality constraints. Supports the bid and proposal process by leading a portion of the technical proposal effort, including coordinating with other engineering disciplines to identify and manage dependencies to ensure work packages within assigned area will be delivered. Remains current on trends and emerging technologies and tools. May include safety, environmental protection and compliance. Coaches and trains lower-level project engineers.

Essential Duties:

  • Assist the Program Manager with the planning, scheduling, budgeting, and quantitative management of all project activities and staff; contribute to and participate in customer reviews; directing resources, organizational interfaces, and project task scope; developing and reporting project metrics; providing concurrence on recommended changes to requirements and design configuration.
  • Ensuring the overall cost, schedule, and performance of the program.
  • Developing and maintaining the program plans (management baseline)
  • Together with Lead Systems Engineers, develop and maintain the technical approach/development plan
  • Conducting customer reviews and serving as an advocate for customer issues - technical and programmatic
  • Managing Program staffing, resources, organizational interfaces, and program task scope
  • Develop and conduct monthly engineering status reviews with program management and engineering leadership.

Required Skills:

  • Candidates must have a bachelor's degree in a related field, and twelve (12) plus years of prior experience in planning, scheduling, budgeting, and executing projects to meet cost, schedule, and performance objectives.
  • Experience with iterative design and development methodologies is a plus; ability to adjust scope and schedule to conform to user feedback and new requirements.
  • Candidates must have demonstrated excellent oral/written communication skills, and interpersonal skills to support interaction with customer representatives, team members (including subcontractors), and internal management.
  • Must have or have the ability to obtain a US Government secret clearance. Security clearances are granted to US Citizens
  • Willing to travel approximately 10-20%

  • Project Management Professional certified
  • Agile project management experience
  • Design for manufacturing experience
  • Strong understanding of Systems Engineering
  • Negotiation and risk management skills
  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.
