Project Accountant

Location: Oregon, WI (just outside Madison)

Hybrid schedule available after training (3 days in-office, 2 days remote)

Relocation assistance provided if needed

We're seeking a skilled Project Accountant to join our team and contribute to the success of our apartment community construction projects. This role focuses on managing all aspects of the draw cycle and construction accounting while ensuring accuracy, compliance, and timely execution.

What You'll Do:


  • Lead the draw cycle process for construction projects, including preparation, reconciliation, and communication across departments.
  • Process and reconcile AIA documents and update estimates throughout the draw cycle.
  • Manage accounts receivable and accounts payable for construction projects, ensuring timely processing, coding, and payment of invoices.
  • Reconcile the job/project cost module with the general ledger and accounts payable systems.
  • Maintain vendor records, lien waivers, and accurate files of paid invoices.
  • Prepare and update monthly variance and job cost reports.
  • Monitor invoices for sales and use tax compliance and ensure proper account allocation.
  • Conduct monthly bank reconciliations.
  • Collaborate with external auditors by providing requested documentation and support.
  • Assist with ad hoc projects and tasks as assigned by the Project Finance Manager.



What We're Looking For:


  • Education: Associate's or Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
  • Experience: Minimum 2 years of accounting experience, including hands-on management of the draw cycle.
  • Proficiency in accounting software (Sage or RealPage preferred), as well as intermediate Word and Excel skills.
  • Exceptional organizational skills and attention to detail.
  • Strong communication skills with the ability to collaborate across teams.
  • Ability to work independently, prioritize multiple tasks, and meet deadlines.
  • Demonstrated discretion in handling confidential information.
