The salary range for this position takes into account the wide range of factors that are considered in making compensation decisions including but not limited to skill sets; experience and training; licensure and certifications; and other business and organizational needs.

At WGU, it is not typical for an individual to be hired at or near the top of the range for their position, and compensation decisions are dependent on the facts and circumstances of each case. A reasonable estimate of the current range is:

Pay Range: $54,800.00 - $82,200.00

Job Description

In this position, you will be required to work in-office in Salt Lake City, Utah, 4 days/week. About the Role:

We are looking for an Accountant II to join our team. In this role, you will be responsible for maintaining accurate financial records, ensuring compliance with company policies, and supporting key accounting functions. If you're a detail-oriented professional with a strong foundation in accounting principles and the ability to manage multiple tasks efficiently, we would love to hear from you.

What You Will Do:
  • Prepare and enter general ledger entries.

  • Balance and reconcile accounts to the general ledger.

  • Analyze account activity, reconcile accounts, and adjust entries.

  • Maintain and balance subsidiary accounts and multi-entity ledgers.

  • Records the acquisition and disposition of fixed assets, ensuring compliance with company policy.

  • Tracks capital asset project costs, reviewing CIP on an ongoing basis.

  • Records depreciation and amortization expense.

  • Provides technical advice and service to staff regarding complex accounting matters.

  • Prepares and assists in the preparation of financial and administrative reports for planning purposes.

  • Assists with audit preparation.

  • Assists with the implementation, documentation, and training of new processes, procedures, and applications.

  • Maintain accurate and up-to-date accounting documents and records.

  • Provide backup for other accounting staff positions.

  • Assist with any special projects or reports needed by the accounting manager, accounting supervisor, controller, or CFO.

  • Communicate with vendors and other third-party affiliates to reconcile and coordinate with student accounts.

  • Perform other related duties as assigned.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities You'll Need:

  • Strong understanding of accounting theory, practices, and procedures.

  • Highly detail-oriented and organized.

  • Strong work ethic and problem-solving skills.

  • Excellent written and oral communication skills.

  • Proficient working knowledge of Microsoft Office applications.

  • Ability to act and operate independently with minimal direction from the manager.

Job Qualifications:

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting or related field.

  • 2 years of knowledge of general accounting principles and accounting systems.

Position & Application Details
