The Operations Manager is responsible for establishing a production operation in Meriden, CT. The primary focus of the role will be to setup a new operation and ensure daily, weekly, monthly, and annual targets are achieved and reported effectively. After establishing and insourcing manufacturing, the main responsibility of the Operations Manager is to minimize waste, both in material and time, by using the least amount of labor and material to create product and to keep the production cycle moving while maintaining a consistently high quality of work. Duties include leading staff to meet targets for production, customer service, and quality, overseeing all value stream metrics, executing the shipping/receiving process, and guiding employees to adhere to company policies and procedures.

Key Areas of Responsibilities:



  • Establish a new production operation in the Mirion Meriden facility.
  • Stand up all processes associated with the values stream to support from order to cash.
  • Support the creation of a robust supply base for the business.
  • Manage day-to-day operations in the value stream.
  • Primary point of contact for internal and external interested parties.
  • Lead daily value stream production meetings.
  • Attend S&OP meetings to review manufacturing requirements, issues, and schedules.
  • Follow all established ISO/Quality procedures and participate in continuous improvement.
  • Performs related duties as assigned or as situation dictates. Complies with all company policies and instructions.
  • Provide reports regarding value stream performance to Sr management.
  • Provide an adequate work force ensuring all employees are properly trained for their position to meet or exceed customer needs.
  • Aligns with the Health Safety and Environmental Manager to provide a safe work environment and ensure compliance with city, state, and federal regulations regarding environmental, OSHA, and workers' compensation.
  • Responsible for performance to company and operational goals in the areas of 6S, Quality, Delivery, Inventory, Productivity and Cost.
  • Develop and manage performance to departmental budgets.
  • Identify and reduce value stream waste, improve quality, productivity and reduce lead times in a culture of continuous improvement.
  • Troubleshoot 100% of all line down part quality and process quality issues in collaboration with appropriate resources and expedite repairs as required with identification of root cause and countermeasures to ensure customer satisfaction.
  • Ensure adherence to run rates.
  • Manages, leads, and directs hourly employees in the manufacture of company products with responsibilities including interviewing, hiring, training, appraising performance, rewarding, disciplining and recommending change of status as appropriate for all resources.



Skills and Experience:



  • 5-7 years of experience in an Operations Management role.
  • Knowledge of Lean Manufacturing applications and concepts.
  • Knowledge of ISO 9001 systems.
  • Strong supervisory, leadership and team building skills.
  • Ability to communicate and collaborate effectively with all functions of the organization.
  • Ability to read and interpret documents such as rules, engineering drawings, and procedure manuals.
  • Ability to write standard documentation.
  • Ability to communicate effectively with other employees of the organization.
  • Ability to exercise sound judgment and effectively problem solve using root cause tools.
  • Ability to instruct, coach, and mentor others in lean philosophies.
  • Ability to 'get things done' with respect to finding and implementing continuous improvement activities.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment.
  • Ability to generate and update value stream maps.
  • Lean or Green Belt Six Sigma certification a plus.
  • Strategic thinker, strong analytical skills, able to synthesize considerable and complex data.
  • Strong financial acumen with experience in inventory management.
  • Various ERP and MS Excel spreadsheet expertise in managing procurement and planning analytics.
  • Solid, proven organizational, project management and leadership skills.
  • Exceptional verbal and interpersonal/written communication skills; can effectively interact with all levels of management, providing visibility and transparency of the S&OP process and outcomes.
  • Strong PC skills (Excel, PP, Word, Access, Minitab).
  • Demonstrated ability to influence teams and programs regarding quality, productivity and/or customer service.
  • Ability to work on multiple projects with limited direction.
  • Solid working knowledge of MRP with working knowledge of D365 preferred.



    Education Requirements:



    • Bachelor's degree in engineering or supply chain management.
    • B.A. or other advanced technical degree strongly preferred.
