Essential Job Duties
Join the Building Maintenance and Operations (BM&O) team as a Maintenance Technician, where you'll play a key role in supporting the maintenance, operation, and repair of essential campus facilities. Assigned to a zone maintenance shop on Centennial Campus, you will help maintain HVAC, mechanical, electrical, and plumbing systems to ensure a safe and functional environment across campus. Key responsibilities and duties include but not limited to:


  • Conduct routine maintenance, operations, and repair tasks across HVAC, mechanical, electrical, and plumbing systems within the assigned zone
  • Perform basic repairs, such as fixing leaks, adjusting boiler levels, assisting with pipe installations, and completing preventive maintenance (PM) tasks to ensure system functionality and campus safety
  • Support skilled technicians in maintenance activities, gaining practical experience in various trade skills

  • Inspect facilities regularly to identify issues, report needed repairs, and provide detailed updates to senior technicians or supervisors
  • Follow and enforce established safety protocols, including system isolation and lock-out procedures, to maintain a safe working environment

  • Record equipment readings for boilers and chillers report any discrepancies, and document findings accurately in maintenance logs
  • Monitor and check chemical levels as assigned, ensuring compliance with operational standards

Qualifications


Minimum Experience/Education
High school diploma or equivalency; or demonstrated possession of the competencies necessary to perform the work. Some positions may require special licenses or certification(s).

Optional Guidelines: Experience in the trade(s) areas related to the area of assignment may be substituted on a year-for-year basis.
Other Required Qualifications

  • Able to communicate effectively with supervisors and the general public, and is able to understand and follow verbal and written instructions and other communications related to work assignments and other matters
  • Able to lift up to 60-90 pounds occasionally, with or without reasonable accommodations
  • Some knowledge of mechanical trades/functions

Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience in a university setting
