Seeking a Lead Data Engineer. This role involves working with on-prem systems and Azure Databricks, with an initial focus on legacy data and workflows before transitioning to modern cloud-based solutions. Ideal candidates should have strong Python and SQL skills, experience with data modeling and ETL processes, and a passion for mentorship and leadership.
Responsibilities:
Data Engineering & Development:
* Design, develop, and maintain ETL processes and data pipelines for both on-prem and cloud-based (Databricks) environments.
* Work with public & private commercial real estate and oil & gas data (leasing, sales, ownership).
* Create and optimize database schemas, tables, and indexes for performance and scalability.
* Transition existing data workflows to Azure Databricks, while ensuring smooth integration with legacy systems.
Collaboration & Stakeholder Support:
* Work with multi-department teams to gather requirements for data-oriented system components.
* Engage with business stakeholders to understand and implement data analysis or reporting needs.
* Assist in resolving data-related technical issues and improving system efficiency.
Leadership & Mentorship:
* Serve as a technical mentor for junior team members, guiding them in Python development, database design, and ETL best practices.
* Lead efforts in expanding Databricks capabilities, identifying opportunities for improvement and innovation.
Preferred Qualifications:
Technical Skills:
* Strong Python programming skills, including type hints, virtual environments, and cross-platform portability.
* Expertise in SQL and data modeling, including database normalization, schema design, and query optimization.
* Experience with ETL pipelines, data processing frameworks, and performance tuning.
* Proficiency with GitHub and version-controlled software development workflows.
* Experience working with on-prem data systems, with an understanding of transitioning to cloud-based platforms.
* Knowledge of Azure Databricks, with an interest in designing and optimizing big data workflows.
* Familiarity with Tableau and Alteryx for data visualization and transformation.
