Job Description:Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University is now hiring a Residence Life Coordinator at the Daytona Beach campus. The Residence Life Coordinator (RLC) is responsible for the primary oversight, coordination, and implementation of all residential living and learning for an assigned on-campus residential area. This position requires that the candidate live on campus in an assignment apartment and serves in a department on-call rotation.

Responsibilities include the following:

Staff Supervision and Development

  • Provide supervision and guidance to student staff on a daily basis. This includes holding bi-weekly one on one meetings with 12-26 Resident Advisors and/or Graduate Assistants, planning and facilitating weekly staff meetings, training, developing, and evaluating staff on an on-going and semester basis, and conducting interviews to hire new staff. Provide guidance and leadership for student staff, individual and team/group issues, problems and concerns.
  • Provide corrective feedback and accountability for staffing concerns and employment policy violations; consults with assistant director on involuntary separation from the position.
  • Provide leadership in the area of conflict resolution and mediation, specifically assisting their student staff with management of roommate conflicts.
  • Be knowledgeable and act as a referral agent for concerns outside of Housing and Residence Life such as academics, counseling center, wellness center, financial aid, and other campus partners.
  • Oversee the overall implementation of a budget of approximately $10,000. Reconcile purchases made with university purchasing card; Use good judgment while making purchases on behalf of the university.
  • Assist with department training of the Resident Advisor team including but not limited to, presentation development and execution, development of learning objectives, development and facilitation of individual team instruction (in-hall time), assist with the planning and ordering of meals for approximately 120 student staff, develop a morale improvement plan for individual teams.
  • Assist with selection of the resident advisor team by participating in recruitment tabling and events, planning interview questions and interview weekend, evaluating candidate application materials and interview responses, selecting hired candidates and alternates to fill vacancies, assessing hired candidates for team placement based on department and student needs.

Student Development and Residential Curriculum Implementation

  • Provide guidance and leadership to student staff in the implementation of curriculum initiatives including:
    • intentional interactions: student staff are responsible for having one on one conversations with each resident in the residence halls
    • area initiatives and programs: events in the residence halls facilitated by the RLC and RAs
    • collaboration with campus partners: events in the residence halls facilitated by both RLC staff, RAs, and other campus partners
    • attending events that are sponsored in the residential area including after business hours
  • Maintains high visibility in their assigned residential area by completing building/facility tours

Crisis Response and Management

  • Participate in the department on-call crisis response and management rotation. This occurs on average once every 5 weeks. The on call period is for 24 hours a day for 1 full week. The purpose of the on-call staff member is to provide guidance and support to on-call student staff in the residence halls, respond to emergencies that occur after hours including but not limited to, conflicts, medical emergencies, alcohol and other drug situations in the residence halls, and maintenance concerns.
  • Collaborate with the Dean of Students on call staff member and campus safety to resolve student conflict and crisis

Administration

  • Communicate and respond to parent/guardian concerns and questions, campus stakeholder communications, and residential student questions
  • Facilitate health and safety inspections for assigned residential area 2 times a semester
  • Adjudicate student conduct violations for low-level residential policy violations. This includes facilitating pre-hearing conferences, hearings, determining responsibility, and assigning educational sanctions
  • Attend weekly and bi-weekly staff meetings; weekly one on one meetings with assigned assistant director; committee meetings as assigned by department leadership.
  • Oversee the management of eRezLife software including tracking of program and event data, intentional interaction feedback and concerns, assessing needs based on data, and completing staff performance evaluations.
  • Ensure all university employment responsibilities are complete including monitoring of personal leave, mandatory university trainings, and Purchasing card use (if applicable).
Qualifications

Required Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Education, Psychology, or related field.
  • Minimum of 1-3 years of experience in student development, higher education, or related field.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Master's degree in Student Development, Higher Education, or related field.
  • Familiarity with a housing department, residence halls, and how they operate.
