Responsibilities:



  • Perform deposit analysis on solids, residues, and filters submitted to the lab
  • Assist on the water line with various analyses and instrumentation
  • Assist the failure analyst on submitted samples in the following areas:


  • Perform complex engineering analyses in support of operations, systems, and programs in Materials/Metallurgy, Flow Accelerated Corrosion, and Pipe Wall Thinning mechanisms (Erosion, Corrosion, Pitting, Impingement).
  • Maintain knowledge of systems, programs, and projects in the above listed technical areas.Projects may be composed of interrelated elements, for which applications of standards may not be straight-forward and require critical thinking.
  • Interpret guidelines and adapt methods when required.
  • Contribute to providing unconventional or innovative problem solving techniques. Tasks may involve advanced application of practices and methodologies. Each problem is unique and can require the evolution of technical skills to find solutions.
  • Provide technical education to company engineers.
  • Ensure compliance with safety, regulatory, and industry guidelines.



Requirements and Skills:



  • Bachelor's degree in Chemistry or applicable science with experience in the field/analytical lab, or 2+ years of experience in the following areas: conducting materials/metallurgical laboratory analyses, performing failure analyses, performing corrosion control and monitoring activities or related corrosion processes (preferred)
  • Working knowledge of Deposit, Water, and/or Lubricant chemistry fundamentals and the ability to apply them to the analysis of samples
  • XRF and FTIR experience strongly preferred
  • Knowledge of ASTM, EPA, GLP, and Standard Methods lab protocols
  • Ability to write and develop analytical reports
  • Demonstrated ability to research
  • Demonstrated ability to problem solve
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office
  • Good communication skills; Can work independently or within the team
  • Excellent multitasking skills
  • Knowledge of analytical instrumentation
  • Ability to work within time constraints
