Clerk A - Testing Center

Purpose Statement

The job of Clerk A - Testing Center is done for the purpose/s of providing support to the instructional
program with specific responsibility for assisting in the assessment process of students; working with
individual and/or small groups of students; ensuring compliance with legal and administrative
requirements; and providing clerical support to assigned school personnel.

This job reports to the Assistant Principal.

Essential Functions
* Administers tests to referred students for the purpose of assisting teachers and other
professionals in assessing students' proficiency.
* Maintains a variety of confidential and non-confidential manual and electronic records for the
purpose of documenting activities, providing written reference, and/or conveying information.
* Manages student behavior for the purpose of providing a safe and optimal learning environment.
* Monitors students absences for the purpose of identifying issues and disseminating information to
appropriate parties.
* Monitors students during assigned periods for the purpose of providing a safe and positive
learning environment.
* Performs general clerical functions for the purpose of supporting office operations and/or relieving
and substituting for other clerks as needed.
* Performs other related duties as assigned for the purpose of ensuring the efficient and effective
functioning of the work unit pertaining to District 219.
* Prepares a variety of documents for the purpose of supporting the teacher and/or supervisory
staff in meeting mandated requirements.
* Procures supplies and materials needed for the administration of assessments for the purpose of
maintaining availability of required items as needed.
* Provides verbal and/or written feedback of observations for the purpose of informing teacher/s
and/or Dean of Students of students' behavior.
* Responds to inquiries for the purpose of providing information and/or direction related to the
testing center.
* Supports classroom teachers for the purpose of assisting them in the implementation of
established curriculum and/or individual student plans.

Job Requirements: Minimum Qualifications

Skills, Knowledge and Abilities
SKILLS are required to perform multiple tasks with a potential need to upgrade skills in order to meet
changing job conditions. Specific skill based competencies required to satisfactorily perform the functions
of the job include: operating standard office equipment including pertinent software applications.

KNOWLEDGE is required to perform basic math, including calculations using fractions, percents, and/or
ratios; understand written procedures, write routine documents, and speak clearly; and understand
complex, multi-step written and oral instructions. Specific knowledge based competencies required to
satisfactorily perform the functions of the job include: behavior and crisis management techniques;
instruction techniques; high school curriculum; knowledge of board policy, district, state and federal
regulations/laws.

ABILITY is required to schedule activities; collate data; and use basic, job-related equipment. Flexibility is
required to work with others in a variety of circumstances; work with data utilizing specific, defined
processes; and operate equipment using defined methods. Ability is also required to work with a diversity
of individuals; work with specific, job-related data; and utilize specific, job-related equipment. Problem
solving is required to identify issues and create action plans. Problem solving with data requires following
prescribed guidelines; and problem solving with equipment is limited to moderate. Specific ability based
competencies required to satisfactorily perform the functions of the job include: maintaining confidentiality;
working with frequent interruptions; effective communication; building relationships.

Responsibility
Responsibilities include: working under direct supervision using standardized procedures; leading,
guiding, and/or coordinating others; utilization of some resources from other work units may be required
to perform the job's functions. There is a continual opportunity to have some impact on the organization's
services.

Working Environment
The usual and customary methods of performing the job's functions require the following physical
demands: some lifting, carrying, pushing, and/or pulling, and significant fine finger dexterity. Generally
the job requires 80% sitting, 10% walking, and 10% standing. This job is performed in a generally clean
and healthy environment.

Experience

Job related experience is required.

Education

Community college and/or vocational school degree with study in job-related area.

Equivalency

Equivalent experience in job related field.
