The Role: The Plant Production Manager for Refinery C&D Unit, reporting to the Sr Production Manager, at Roquette America's Keokuk plant site. This position is based at our Keokuk corn-wet milling and bio-refinery facility and requires interaction with both Salaried and Union workforce. The Plant Production Manager will be responsible for leading Refinery C/D bargaining unit and salaried employees to ensure safe actions, environmental compliance and quality production in a Good Manufacturing Practice food-grade operation. This position requires candidates to demonstrate excellent operational leadership, clear communication skills, strong people development and coaching abilities, and experience in effectively managing short-term activities and long-term projects. Additional responsibilities include troubleshooting of the manufacturing process, recommending and implementing effective solutions, overseeing multiple improvement projects, and consistently achieving production plans. What You'll Do:
- Monitor operations' performance and lead multiple rotating shifts' production priority setting and activities planning/assignments to ensure actions result in safe, compliant and quality work achieving scheduled production to meet customers' needs and assure the customer orders are made right the first time and shipped on time. Interprets process, product and customer order specifications and makes judgments regarding production and assure processes deliver product quality to meet customers' needs.
- Manage, communicate and achieve targets of Refinery F Key Performance Indicators (KPIs). Translate group goals and KPIs into refinery goals, and action and development plans.
- Develop and execute programs to improve safety, environmental compliance, quality, reliable production performance, asset health, yields, capacities and costs. Draw innovation from employees, other team leaders, engineers and other departments.
- Support and complement interdepartmental Operation plans by planning or leading planning of Refinery F production, maintenance and refinery activities to maximize Operations' efficiency and to achieve quality and performance targets.
- Manage spending within area budget requirements. Work closely with Maintenance to balance meeting Maintenance budgeted spending and maximizing plant asset health and availability to meet business needs.
- Lead technical and non-technical troubleshooting engaging team members and technical resources, as needed, in addressing moderate to complex issues. Innovates to remove barriers to operational improvements.
- Lead operations teams' activities with clear, consistent communication. Assure that short to medium term plans are communicated to maximize operating efficiencies.
- Implement and maintain sound process controls through group personnel.
- Develop production employees through training, coaching, objective setting, evaluation and administering personal performance reviews.
- Assure refinery team knowledge, understanding, and compliance of all policies, procedures, work instructions and adherence to quality control standards. Guides on and leads interpretation and compliance of the bargaining unit contract. Resolves complex personnel issues.
What You'll Need:
- BS engineering or related degree or equivalent relatable technical process experience
- >8 years experience in a food and/or chemical continuous processing plant ; >10 years desired
- >8 years leadership and/or supervisory experience desired; >10 years supervisory experience preferred
- Demonstrated advanced sound, assertive, positive leadership skills, as well as strong and effective coaching skills
- Demonstrated clear, informative and persuasive (verbal, written and presentation) communication skills, and facilitation skills, with solid intra-company and external business networking
- Demonstrated experience in program/project development and execution.
- Effective organizational and planning skills with the demonstrated ability to multitask and lead cross-functional teams.
- Demonstrated strong working understanding of chemical unit operations of food-grade processes and strong understanding of theory and practical application of food-grade processing, mechanical aptitude of food-grade process equipment, and strong understanding of production accounting
- Demonstrated ability to develop and execute against production short-term and medium-term plans to meet output requirements
- Demonstrated successful advanced troubleshooting and problem solving
- Proficient with Microsoft Office applications of Excel, Outlook, Power Point and Word
