About The Role

Seeking a Commercial Portfolio Manager who will have a focus on supporting credit portfolios, as well as deposit relationships. The Commercial Portfolio Manager should have strong financial analysis, communication and business acumen skills in order to assist commercial lending officers with loan structures, pre-underwriting analysis, pricing models and credit authorizations. The Commercial Portfolio Manager will complete loan spreads and credit underwriting, as needed. This position is involved in the entire loan and customer relationship process including monitoring reports, completing credit authorizations, coordinating and review of financial documentation and occasionally presenting the credits to loan committee.

Our Commercial Portfolio Manager will assist Commercial Lending Officers to ensure that their credit portfolio has required updated financials and is meeting compliance guidelines. In addition, they will be responsible for ongoing credit risk management of their assigned credit portfolios. Strong communication skills are needed to partner with the Commercial Lending Officers in speaking with clients and prospects regarding their credit needs and understanding of financials.

The Commercial Portfolio Manager will need to be familiar with credit policy and works closely with the credit team, loan assistant team and loan operations team to mitigate risk while working with customers and ensuring that the bank is responding and completing requests in a timely manner.

The pay range for this position is $75,100.00 to $81,300.00 per year. All compensation offers are analyzed individually and take into consideration multiple factors including but not limited to geographic location, years of experience, and educational background.

Essential Functions:

  • Manages an assigned portfolio of credits generally greater than $1 million, anticipating new opportunities, upcoming maturities, annual term loan reviews, and potential problems.
  • Assist in the collection of customer monitoring requirements such as borrowing bases, financial packaging collection, and others as required per loan covenants.
  • Work with loan officers in monitoring performance of individual credit relationships to identify risk and minimize potential losses. Prepares problem loan reports for problem credits. Recommends approval and/or changes in new or existing credit facilities.
  • Work with loan officers to manage large construction loan draw process and completion of semi-annual construction loan reviews.
  • Supports Relationship Managers in related portfolio management activities, whether related to credit, depository, or other banking services.
  • May Assist Relationship Managers with business development call preparation.
  • Responsible for the ongoing management of the portfolio, including developing a relationship with each client relationship.
  • Assist commercial lending officers with the collection, preparation, pre-underwriting analysis and submission of authorizations
  • Actively participates in Bank related and community volunteer events as well as business development related activities.
  • Spreads and/or analyzes financial statements and tax returns of potential and existing customers using appropriate tools and credit criteria.
  • Assist credit analysts in the ordering and review of real estate appraisals.
  • Assist commercial lending officers in the collection and review of regulatory compliance items, not limited to but including CRA, Adverse Action and other regulatory compliance requirements
  • Remain educated about industry trends, community developments, market conditions and regulatory requirements and understand their effect of the banks' lending criteria
  • Perform job functions in compliance with all company policies, federal and state rules and regulations as applicable to the position, including, but not limited to BSA/AML, CRA, HMDA, FHLB, OFAC, SOx and GLBA/privacy rules

Additional Responsibilities:

  • Must comply with applicable laws and regulations, including but not limited to, the Bank Secrecy Act, the Patriot Act, and the Office of Foreign Assets Control.
  • Complete required bank training courses within assigned time frame(s). It is the individual learner responsibility to ensure that they understand the information given to them in each training. If the learner does not understand the information given, they need to reach out to their supervisor for further clarification or additional training.

About You

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • College Degree or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Two to five years of similar or related experience, including time spent in preparatory positons. One to three years of commercial credit analysis experience preferred. One to three year of commercial loan assistant experience preferred.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILL, ABILITY:

* Extensive knowledge of commercial credit policy, regulations and credit quality standards

* Strong analytical skills

* Development of an expert knowledge of nCino

* Proficient knowledge of Microsoft Office, Word and Excel

* Completion of AIA appraisal class - Basic Appraisal Procedures

* Ability to interpret a variety of technical instructions and can deal with multiple variables

* Communicate effectively both verbally and in writing with others in a clear, thorough and timely manner

* Demonstrate a high level of organization, ability to prioritize and multi-task with attention to detail and accuracy, manage multiple projects, demonstrate self-motivation and ability to follow through with tasks

* Exhibit a professional manner in dealing with others; work to develop and maintain cooperative and positive working relationships; represent the bank in a positive manner and maintain credibility with others

* Ability to produce work within directed timeframe without compromising integrity or quality of work

* Maintain strict confidentiality regarding any information obtained during the course of performing job duties; adhere to Bank policies and procedures regarding confidentiality

* Must be willing and comfortable to join lending officers in meetings with existing or prospective bank customers, and have the ability to travel to client meetings across the Bank of the San Juans footprint when necessary

WORK ENVIRONMENT: Must be able to routinely perform work indoors in climate-controlled shared work area with moderate noise level.

Must be able to operate routine office equipment including computer terminals and keyboards, telephones, copiers, facsimiles, and calculators. Must be able to routinely perform work on computer for an average of 6-8 hours per day, when necessary. Must be able to work extended hours or travel off site whenever required or requested by management. Must be capable of regular, reliable and timely attendance. Must be capable of climbing / descending stairs in an emergency situation.

Specific lifting abilities required by this job include: Medium work. Exerting up to 50 pounds of force occasionally, and/or up to 25 pounds of force frequently, and/or up to 10 pounds of force constantly to move objects.

Specific vision abilities required by this job include: The worker is required to have close visual acuity to perform an activity such as: preparing and analyzing data and figures; transcribing; viewing a computer terminal; extensive reading; visual inspection involving small defects, small parts, and/or operation/inspection of machines and/or using measurement devices at distances close to the eyes.
