Job Description:

Under the direction and supervision of the Assistant Director of Student Wellness Services, advances the holistic wellness for Trinity University students through comprehensive health promotion efforts. Intentionally aligns with strategic priorities to advance the mission of the Division of Student Affairs to serve, support, and develop our students as individuals and in the context of being responsible global citizens.

Wellness Services is a part of Integrated Counseling, Health, and Wellness Services, within the Division of Student Affairs. Wellness
Services aims to improve the health and wellness of all students at Trinity University by providing evidence-informed education,
programming, and services focused on mental health, alcohol and other drug safety, and sexual health and sexual violence prevention.
  • Supervises Peer Health Educator student workers and advises wellness student organizations (i.e. Active Minds, It's On Us) in collaboration with the Director of Wellness Services.

  • Coordinates and facilitates workshops, trainings, events, and other outreach aimed at improving student holistic wellness, with a focus on mental health, alcohol and other drug safety, and sexual health and sexual violence prevention. Assists with the development of the Wellness Services event and programming calendar.

  • Supports the development, implementation, and evaluation of evidence-based health promotion strategies, policies, programs, and services in collaboration with the Director of Wellness Services based on campus needs and priorities.

  • Develops content for and manages the social media accounts for Integrated Counseling, Health, and Wellness Services.

  • Assists with managing the Wellness Services budget allotted to programming and professional development and performs expense reporting.

  • Contributes to campus-wide assessment efforts (i.e. ACHA-NCHA, WISHES, program process and outcome evaluations) and annual reports and leads program-specific assessment efforts (process and outcome evaluations) to determine program efficacy.

  • Collaborates with Integrated Counseling, Health, and Wellness Services staff, Student Affairs staff, and University faculty and staff in various projects, including committee work.

ADDITIONAL DUTIES

  • Cooperates and collaborates with other employees in the spirit of teamwork and collegiality and interacts with confidence, patience and integrity to provide professional leadership during emergencies.

  • Actively participates in professional organizations (i.e. ACHA, SWCHA, NASPA, USHPCN).

  • Complies with all Trinity University policies and guidelines.

  • Performs other duties as required.

EDUCATION

Required:

  • Bachelor's degree in related field.

Preferred:

  • Master's degree in public health, health promotion, health education, or related field

  • Certified Health Education Specialist (CHES) or Certified in Public Health (CPH) or CHES/CPH eligible

EXPERIENCE

Required:

  • One year of experience in health education/promotion, preferably in higher education.

  • Experience with Peer Health Education.

  • Active participation in professional organizations.

  • Experience conducting literature reviews, needs assessments, and program evaluations; experience interpreting findings and developing plans to programmatically and strategically respond to findings.

Preferred:

  • Three years of experience in health education/promotion in higher education.

  • Experience supervising students.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES

Required:

Demonstrated knowledge of:

  • Practices cultural humility and incorporates social justice concepts and principles into health promotion processes.

  • Actively participates in professional organizations (i.e. ACHA, SWCHA, NASPA, USHPCN).

  • How to incorporate health promotion in the context of higher education

  • How to design and implement health promotion programs on a variety of key health issues based on needs assessment results

  • Evidence-informed health promotion programs/initiatives

  • Health promotion, behavior change, and population-based theories and models (i.e. Transtheoretical Model, Diffusion of Innovations, Socio-Ecological Model)

  • Collaboration with and incorporation of underrepresented and historically marginalized diverse populations into health promotion processes

  • Quantitative and qualitative research skills

Demonstrated application of:

  • Social justice and cultural humility practices

  • Working collaboratively with teams

Proficiency in:

  • Written, oral, and interpersonal communication skills; advanced public speaking and facilitation skills

  • Handling multiple projects simultaneously, managing time efficiently, and prioritizing tasks

  • Analyzing health-related professional literature relevant to college students and assessing its applicability and utility for effectiveness at Trinity University

  • Gathering, compiling, and synthesizing information to develop health promotion initiative and educational materials for specific populations of students, including students involved in Fraternity and Sorority Life, athletes, first generation students, international students, transfer students, non-residential students, non-traditional students, students with economic hardship, and students who identify as Black, Brown, Indigenous, and People of Color

  • Social media management

  • Google Suite and Microsoft Office

  • Supervising and advising students

Required:

  • None

Preferred:

  • Credentialed as Certified Health Education Specialist (CHES) or eligible and intent to become certified
