WHO WE ARE

The Consumer Data Engineering team within Insights and Analytics supports ETL, report building and automation for the Hallmark enterprise including both our Core and Media businesses. This team has a mix of new development and ongoing support work with opportunities to build and collaborate with tech partners on various proof of concepts and implementations. Our DE team works closely with the rest of I&A and directly supports data science and analytics teams. Our Engineers also work closely with various business stakeholders across the enterprise, delivering data solutions and reporting.

WHAT YOUR ROLE ENTAILS AND HOW YOU'LL CONTRIBUTE

As a Sr Data Engineer, you will be responsible for creating and supporting key reporting pipelines and ETL jobs within various warehouses and databases. It is the role of our I&A Data Engineering team to ensure that data is delivered accurately and consistently across all stakeholder groups including Executive stakeholders. You'll build and prepare data structures to unlock information that enable business decisions. Data Engineers work with a bias toward continuous improvement in data warehousing, manipulation and tool development. They empower the analytics community by developing robust data pipelines, automating reporting and statistical model algorithms, streamlining business processes, and develop user-friend interfaces for business customers.

BASIC QUALIFICATIONS

The following is required to be considered for this role:



  • Bachelor's degree or 4 years of professional work experience
  • At least 4 years of experience using SQL in a data engineering role
  • At least 1 year of experience with Python



PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

  • Bachelors or Master's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Data Science, OR a technical field 2+ years of experience with database management and programming languages (SQL, Python, Java, .NET, C++, Java Script, Scala, Perl, Ruby, etc)
  • Expertise in numerous databases (Teradata, MySQL, etc) and Cloud-based platforms (AWS, Azure, Google Cloud, SAP S4 Hanna, etc)
  • Expertise with data visualization tools (including Tableau, PowerBI, etc) and creating automated interactive dashboards and reports for business customers that are robust in knowledge and simplistic in usage Ability to develop data models and data pipelines to enable analysts and data scientist access to a vast array of data sources from numerous locations
  • Expertise in computer programming, APIs, macro/function design and automation (Chron Jobs) in order to streamline statistical models and business processes for the organization
  • Strong ability to communicate with analytics staff across the organization and develop innovative solutions to simplify their work processes and increase productivity
  • Able to provide a GitHub or coding portfolio of prior data engineering, data science, computer programming and statistical work and projects
  • Strong desire to explore various data sources to uncover hidden opportunities for the organization
  • Self-directed, detail & team oriented with highly developed problem solving and analytical skills
  • Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal, coupled with strong organizational, planning and interpersonal skills

  • This position is hybrid, working onsite at HQ in Kansas City, MO on Wednesdays and throughout the year as needed.
