Summary:

Business minded visionary that partners with Creative Lead to build innovation pipeline of emerging commercial brands and products. Makes sound business decisions and optimizes resources, managing complex and challenging innovation projects. Prioritizes quality throughout the innovation process. Works collaboratively with internal and external partners to identify, evaluate, and pursue complex and challenging new opportunities that are value added to the enterprise.

Essential Functions:

  • Collaborate with Creative Lead to develop and own new brand development charters.
  • Drives projects using the principles of brand development.
  • Establishes and manages all project timelines and milestones.
  • Partner with the In-Market Learning Team to develop a strong understanding of Commerce, Customer Development, Distributor Management and Sales Planning.
  • Develops a comprehensive understanding of the category (brands, trends, consumers, distributor, and retailer POVs).
  • Partner with Insights, In-Market and Concept Lead to define the core consumption audience for each charter and develop deep empathy for the consumer through direct interaction and research.
  • Co-creates new brands with Creative Lead through disciplined thinking at each step and adhering to brand development process from charter development to brand conception to in-market test and consumer adoption.
  • Identifies opportunities to refine the brand development process.
  • Contributes to the development of the Brand Strategic Positioning (BSP) and Brand Universe.
  • Systematically maps the brand adoption process and go to market, identifies challenges and potential barriers.
  • Dismantle challenges into feasible problem statements and drives communication developments for the go to market plan.
  • Collaborate with the product owner to drive and guide cross functional teams through execution of the brand through production.
  • Partners with PISO, product development, winemaking and winegrowing to ensure early collaboration on liquid point of view as the brand is being developed and ensure product and concept fit.
  • Use knowledge of the category, consumer and input from the in-market team to create product briefs, and refines product briefs with stakeholders' input.
  • Communicates consumer product needs effectively to the winemaking team and stays closelyconnected with the liquid development team throughout development.
  • Engages the product development and winemaking teams on in-market learning and provides direction on refinements and pivots needed.
  • Owns the financial model for the project and optimizes throughout the development and go to market process. Owns and manages Brand Development and A&P budgets.
  • Consults with Insights Lead to develop objectives for research that generates compelling and actionable insights and a robust understanding of the needs and values of the hypothesized target audience(s).
  • Incorporates consumer learning, category and competitive understanding to identify branding space(s) that chartered projects can occupy.
  • Collaborates with Creative Lead on the creative ideation process and briefs internal and external agencies for creative territories, identity design, and name generation.
  • Supports In-Market learning team with in demand planning and long-term forecasting.
  • Partners with In-Market Learning team to define gaps in understanding of consumer or product and build effective plans to meet learning objectives in the phases of go to market.
  • Spends time in market assessing new brands in test, and identifies barriers to success.
  • Collaborate with in-market lead, develops recommendations to overcome barriers and leads iteration across brand and liquid to ensure problems are solved and goals are met.
  • Iterates the brand proposition based on In-Market learning.
  • Identifies opportunities to improve output and, when needed, adjusts timeline, and manages stakeholder expectations.
  • Maintains understanding of production, compliance and go to market capabilities.
  • Participates in integrated marketing planning (IMP) and the development of the integrated marketing campaign (IMC) as required for new brands.
  • Builds and maintains network of external partners for the purpose of innovation collaboration, learning and benchmarking.
  • Provides regular communication of chartered project progress to Commercial BU leadership and stakeholders.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Masters degree plus 7 years of new brand development, communications strategy, marketing, new product development or project management experience reflecting increasing levels of responsibility; OR Bachelor's degree plus 9 years of new brand development, communications strategy, marketing, new product development or project management experience reflecting increasing levels of responsibility; OR Bachelor's degree plus 8 years of Gallo new brand development or marketing innovation experience reflecting increasing levels of responsibility; OR Master's degree plus 6 years of Gallo new brand development or marketing innovation experience reflecting increasing levels of responsibility; OR High school diploma or State-issued equivalency certificate plus 13 years of new brand development, communications strategy, marketing or new product development experience reflecting increasing levels of responsibility.
  • Strong understanding of the following areas: wine industry, consumer insights, go-to-market dynamics, 3 tier distribution and corresponding channels.
  • Strong understanding of Pricing & Promotion.
  • Skilled in the use of MS Word, MS PowerPoint, MS Excel, IRI, Spectra, SAP and Flex Reporting.
  • Strong sense of curiosity to understand and learn human behavior, cultures, and trends.
  • Experience defining problems, collecting data, establishing facts, and drawing valid conclusions.
  • Experience working directly to influence all levels of management.
  • Required to travel up to 50% of the time.
  • Required to travel to company offices, sites, and/or meeting locations for onboarding, training, meetings, and events for development, department needs, and business delivery up to 5% of the time, with or without reasonable accommodation. This may be in addition to travel requirements, if applicable, as listed in this job description.
  • Required to be 18 years or older. This may be in addition to other age requirements, if applicable, as listed in this job description.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Master of Business Administration degree plus 8 years of Gallo new brand development or marketing innovation experience reflecting increasing levels of responsibility.
  • Experience working directly to influence all levels of management.
  • Multiple Gallo marketing rotations.
  • Wine industry knowledge.
  • Prior CPG or Beverage industry experience.
  • Experience writing project charters and leading project teams.
  • Experience training and developing junior level brand marketers in executing brand and organizational objectives.
  • Experience managing business operations and leveraging basic finance and accountingprinciples.
  • Skilled in reading, analyzing and interpreting common scientific and technical journals, financial reports and legal documents.
  • Experience responding to common inquiries or complaints from customers, regulatory agencies or members of the business community.
  • Skilled in interpreting an extensive variety of technical instructions in mathematical or diagram form and deal with several abstract and concrete variables.
  • Experience performing work that is complex and varied in nature, requiring frequent evaluation, originality or ingenuity.
  • Experience leading, motivating and inspiring teams.

Compensation

  • Hiring Salary Range: $157,800 - $236,800/Year
  • Actual compensation amount paid may be lower or higher to be determined by factors other than race and gender such as the education, experience, knowledge, skills and abilities of the applicant, internal equity, and alignment with market data.
