Position description

Division of Comprehensive Ophthalmology at the Department of Ophthalmology, University of California, San Francisco

The Department of Ophthalmology at the University of California, San Francisco is seeking applicants to fill a full-time faculty position in Comprehensive Ophthalmology at the Assistant, Associate or Full Professor level.

The candidate will provide clinical services in comprehensive ophthalmology, and serve a significant role in resident education as core teaching faculty. The candidate will be responsible for maintaining a clinical and surgical practice at one of our multiple Bay Area clinical sites, including Zuckerberg San Francisco General Hospital, Berkeley Outpatient Clinic, the San Francisco Veterans' Affairs Medical Center. In addition, the candidate will be responsible for attending our residents on the adult inpatient consult service at UCSF.

Requirements:

Qualified candidates must hold an MD or equivalent degree and have a CA medical license or be eligible for full, unrestricted licensure by the time of hire. Candidates must be board certified or board eligible in Ophthalmology (ABO) at the time of hire. Subspecialty fellowship training at the time of appointment is desirable but not required. Demonstrated teaching competency is essential. Candidates must have a distinguished record of excellence in clinical care and teaching. Research experience in education or clinical care is welcome but not required. Applicants' materials must list current and/or pending qualifications upon submission.

Rank and salary commensurate with experience.

The posted UC salary scales set the minimum pay determined by rank and step at appointment. See Table 5: https://www.ucop.edu/academic-personnel-programs/_files/2024-25/oct-2024-scales/t5-summary.pdf. The minimum base salary range for this position is $136,100 - $357,500. The total negotiated salary for this position will include another component at the time of hire. This position includes membership in the health sciences compensation plan (https://ucop.edu/academic-personnel-programs/_files/apm/apm-670.pdf) which provides for eligibility for additional compensation.
