The University of Missouri - Columbia (MU) invites applications and nominations for the Dr. Stuart Wesbury Distinguished Professorship in Health Management and Informatics, within the Master of Health Administration Program (MHA) and the Department of Health Sciences (DHS). This prestigious position comes with tenure in the College of Health Sciences (CHS) and will be filled at the rank of Associate or Full Professor. The successful candidate will be a distinguished scholar with a strong research background in health services administration/management research, a proven track record of research excellence, and the ability to contribute to our academic community. The College of Health Sciences houses eight departments and 21 programs with the common goal to improve the health and well-being of individuals and communities in Missouri and beyond. The College of Health Sciences has experienced remarkable growth in research grants and expenditures in the previous years, supported by the CHS Research Office, amplifying research opportunities, preparing proposal submissions and processing awards. It is also the fastest growing academic unit at MU with approximately 3,500 students and is home to the Department of Health Sciences, the most popular major at MU. DHS serves the citizens of Missouri through its outstanding research, experiential learning, and education of students in the areas of public health, health disparities, health policy, and pre-professional preparation for a variety of health care disciplines. The Department is composed of award-winning faculty and staff members valuing a highly collegial environment that supports interdisciplinary scholarship and the intellectual and professional growth of students, staff and faculty members. Health Sciences also shapes the future of health care management and policy through the CAHME accredited Master of Health Administration Program, that is conducted in residential and executive hybrid formats. This program prepares future healthcare leaders to navigate the complexities of an evolving healthcare landscape. By integrating graduate-level health administration education with a health informatics perspective, the program empowers leaders to drive meaningful improvements in individual and population health. Incoming faculty will be able to build on the existing strength of the Health Administration Program but also have the opportunity to engage in collaborations with colleagues housed in any of the other departments within the College, the integrated clinical programs, as well as the workforce training programs within in the College. For incoming researchers and scholars, the University of Missouri provides many benefits in one - it's a comprehensive campus with 13 Schools and Colleges, Missouri's largest public research university, and a major land-grant institution. MU houses an academic medical center, MU HealthCare with over 50 clinics and top-notch research facilities, like the NextGen Precision Health building, and serves the state through MU Extension. MU is the flagship campus of the four-campus University of Missouri System. It is one of only 37 public universities in the U.S. - and the only public institution in Missouri - to be selected for membership in the Association of American Universities. Further, MU grants access to data resources like the Missouri Cancer Registry and Research Center, the Missouri Census Data Center, and the MU Institute for Data Science and Informatics. The City of Columbia, home of the University of Missouri, has been consistently rated as one of the most desirable places to live and work in the United States. This college town of 129,000+ residents has the best of both worlds - small-town convenience and warmth with urban sophistication and amenities. Located halfway between St. Louis and Kansas City, the city boasts affordable housing, moderate cost of living, diverse cultural and economic opportunities and renown public schools. Minimum Qualifications for this role: * PhD in Health (Service) Administration, Health Management, or a related discipline. * Scholarly and research accomplishments that support a hire at the rank of tenured Associate Professor or higher. Additional criteria the candidates will be evaluated upon: * Excellence in research with a focus on Health Services Administration/Management research. * A track-record of continuing extramural funding through grants and contracts and a promising trajectory to obtain further funding. * Experience in teaching, advising, and mentoring graduate students in face-to-face and hybrid courses while fostering an inclusive learning environment. * Eagerness to engage in service and leadership activities, as well as alumni-facing work at a national level to elevate the visibility of the program. * Commitment to fostering departmental growth, governance, and professional service.
