Job Overview:
The Fiber Technician will manufacture, test, and support the production of fiber optic components using laser technology and will perform equipment maintenance. The technician will work closely with engineering teams to ensure the creation of high-quality, precision optical sub-assemblies that meet all required specifications and standards.

Key Responsibilities:



  • Assembly of Precision Optomechanical and Optical Sub-Assemblies: Construct and align intricate optical and mechanical systems for fiber Bragg grating applications.
  • Testing of Optical Assemblies: Perform tests on optical assemblies to ensure compliance with defined performance standards and specifications.
  • Support of Precision Assembly Work Center: Assist in assembly work when there is insufficient capacity and provide troubleshooting support as necessary.
  • Engineering Feedback: Provide valuable feedback to the engineering team regarding errors, improvements, or omissions in existing documentation and designs.

Requirements

Requirements:



  • Technical Equivalent Experience: Proven experience in optical assembly, fiber optics, or similar technical fields.
  • Optical Measurement Tools Proficiency: Competent in using optical measurement tools, gauges, and meters to assess optical components.
  • Craftsman Skill Level: Experience with assembly hand tools, light power tools, and fiber optic handling tools.
  • Attention to Detail: Ability to produce neat, accurate, and consistent work while handling delicate fiber optics.
  • Self-motivated and Independent: Able to work autonomously, take responsibility for assigned tasks, and complete work with minimal supervision.
  • Effective Communication Skills: Capable of communicating clearly and professionally with team members, supervisors, and engineers.
  • Adaptability: Understands when to seek supervisor guidance and follows the proper chain of command for escalations or technical support.


Preferred Qualifications:



  • Familiarity with fiber optic testing and alignment techniques.
