SUMMARY: The Director, Supply Chain will oversee the end-to-end supply chain strategy; optimizing costs, negotiating contracts, gaining efficiencies, and ensuring compliance with highly technical requirements while leading a procurement organization at VSE focused on the long-term success of the company's manufacturing and distribution supply chain. This leader will focus on supporting VSE's LRU manufacturing program as well as various OEM partnerships with financial targets and world class customer performance expectations. In addition to setting the priorities for the direct team, this leader will effectively liaison with their cross functional counterparts to help set the priorities for the overall business.
DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:
Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
- Direct and manage a growing team of Supply Chain professionals and leaders including Supply Chain Managers, Buyers, Sourcing Specialists, Procurement Specialists, and Expeditors.
- Oversee purchasing and associated policies, management of inventory and material pipeline, budget for materials and continuously consider stock requirements, skills, and account balances.
- Requires managing over 75 supplies in North America and the European Union. These suppliers manufacture both source-controlled and non-source-controlled products, as well as complex machined, highly engineered, and standard hardware parts.
- Overall ownership over company ERP system parts database.
- Work with Quality leaders to optimize supply chain processes.
- Collaborate on initiatives for cost-reduction.
- Maintain knowledge of the market, in addition to current prices and fair rates for goods.
- Monitor the review and analysis of bids and quotes with suppliers, including the negotiation of service agreements and contracts.
- Negotiate with external vendors to secure advantageous terms.
- Track and report key supply chain functional metrics.
- Collaborate with key departments to ensure clarity of the specifications and expectations of the company.
- Expect unfavorable events through analysis of data and prepare control strategies.
- Performs risk management for supply contracts and agreements. Evaluate effective and profitable suppliers and initiate business and organizational partnerships.
- Partner with Supplier Quality leadership for Supplier Assessment and Development criteria.
- Control cost spending and build a culture of long-term savings.
- Lead supplier sourcing opportunities including RFPs, negotiation, etc.
- Coordinate and perform professional-level internal and external reports and briefings.
- Partner with other business units and other cross functional teams.
- Attend/lead various meetings on performance, updates on products, etc.
- Other duties as assigned.
- OR an additional 4 years of specific work experience in lieu of degree.
- 10 years of relevant/technical work experience and 7-9 years of leadership experience.
- 5 years of direct OEM Aerospace Supply Chain experience is a key asset, experience dealing with both small and large suppliers.
- Manufacturing and Special Process experience is a key asset.
- Proven ability to communicate with customers and vendors properly and clearly.
- Experience with problem solving in a high stress environment.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite, including Word, Excel, Outlook, and scheduling applications.
- 14+ years of procurement work experience.
- 10+ years of aviation experience.
- 10+ years of leadership experience.
- Demonstrated knowledge of procurement processes, policies, and procedures.
- Ability to handle multiple projects to meet goals and deadlines.
- Strong emphasis on accuracy and detail when working with internal and customer data.
- Ability to develop sensible strategies and physical solutions for facilitating workflow, and efficiency in workspace.
