Assistant Director, International Student Scholar Services International Student & Scholar Services (ISSS) Atlanta Campus The Assistant Director for Student Services is a key member of the ISSS leadership team, contributing to policy and leadership decisions, supervising and managing three international student advisors, planning student communication, and organizing incoming student processes and events. This position utilizes the Banner system and Sunapsis software to oversee the immigration compliance of international student services that support a growing population of over 4000 F1 and J1 visa students. This position will be the designated point of contact for multiple campus stakeholders, manage off-campus partner relationships, and be responsible for data collection including the annual Open Doors submission. WHAT MAKES ISSS A GREAT PLACE? * A flexible work environment * Generous benefits, including health, dental, vision, tuition assistance, retirement, etc. * A knowledge-sharing organization that works collaboratively with diverse partners. * Professional development opportunity and mentorship * A rapidly growing center within an academic setting HERE IS WHAT YOU WILL DO Leadership: o Responsible for assisting the Director (along with Associate Director and Assistant Director for Scholar Services) in making decisions, providing oversight, determining goals and direction, and representing ISSS to on and off campus partners. * Will update/inform the ISSS director with key data, information about trends/issues/problems, and events or activities where attendance or assistance is needed, and help maintain consistency between all ISSS staff on both campus offices. * Supervision: o Directly supervises the international student advisors (3). Coordinate the hiring and training of direct reports, evaluate staff performance, direct professional development, and manage OneUSG for student advising staff. * Responsible for managing and maintaining student data and communications. * Student Advisement: o Advise students related to F1 and J1 immigration regulations and University policies and deadlines, use compliance software to maintain appropriate documentation, communication, and student support. o Remain current on federal immigration changes, access to advising resources, and key campus partners who can assist with related student needs and questions. * Provide student advising related to the individual's personal situation, including cultural adjustment, academic support/testing/resources, admissions processes, language skills, financial resources, and referrals to appropriate counseling or other services. * Data & Communication: o Responsible for submission of the annual Open Doors report, and for planning most student communications (seasonal reminders, support communications, crisis outreach, office closure, etc.). * Assist director and SEVIS/Sunapsis Coordinator with audits of Sunapsis and Banner data for international students. * Student Compliance & Support: o Provide guidance, development, and support for all student advising and support services and programs (including orientation and student programming). Minimum Hiring Qualifications: Bachelor's degree and three years supervisory/management experience; or a combination of education and related experience; OR Bachelor's degree and one year of related Designated School Official (DSO) experience in International Student and Scholar Services (ISSS) Preferred Hiring Qualifications: Excellent written and oral communication skills * Effective organizational skills * Knowledge of federal immigration regulations * Knowledge of university policies * Ability to work with a diverse population * Knowledge of the surrounding community and available resources College/Business Unit
