We are in search of a Loan Accountant I, II or III to join our Loan Accounting department in Spokane, Washington. This full-time position reports to the Director, Loan Accounting and provides centralized support for all functions relating to the analysis, monitoring and loan accounting of the organization's portfolios.

This position is eligible for a hybrid work schedule and one-time home office stipend after initial training period.

Compensation Information

The base salary range for this position in Spokane, Washington is:

Level I: $52,300 - $79,000; bonus at target is 8% of salary.

Level II: $58,500 - $88,200; bonus at target is 8% of salary.

Level III: $64,600 - $97,500; bonus at target is 10% of salary.

Job Requirements

  • Perform complex analysis of loan activity and accounting for specialized assets, including foreclosures, bankruptcies, and other property owned.
  • Perform loan accounting maintenance, servicing, and corrections to support and provide assistance to other departments and branch offices.
  • Review copies of loan documents and credit agreements for accuracy and consistency.
  • Provide technical advice and accounting expertise to relationship teams on how to structure loans within the loan accounting system on high credit risk loans and related financial products.
  • Analyze and review monthly reports to ensure all loan accounting activities are in compliance and control with loan terms, regulations, policies and procedures, including related income and expenses, charge offs and recoveries, and allowances.
  • Reconcile daily loan to general ledge outages and clearing accounts; conduct full spectrum reconciliation including reviewing, researching, analyzing accounts, documenting findings and processing the appropriate accounting entries.
  • Lead the coordination with team members, other business units, and branch staff to provide quality loan accounting services; serve as a subject matter expert within the team to leverage experience and provide backup to various team functions.
  • Assist in the training of new staff and ensure teammates are aware of and performing updated processes and procedures; effectively update procedures, policies, business continuity, and internal control documentation, within the scope of the role.
  • Lead various projects as assigned, both within the department and in collaboration with other functional areas.
  • Demonstrate a comprehensive understanding of systems, reporting, and loan accounting to effectively research outages, make corrections, resolve problems, reconcile, and evaluate risks.
  • Use system knowledge and loan accounting skills for efficient issue resolution and improving processes/procedures for all loan accounting functions.
  • Perform all duties and maintain all standards in accordance with company policies, procedures, and internal controls.
  • Other duties as assigned

Minimum Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in accounting, finance or related field; or an equivalent combination of education and experience
  • Generally requires one or more years' experience in general business, accounting, finance or similar role in an office setting
  • Strong knowledge of finance and accounting principles
  • General understanding of credit related laws and regulations
  • Proficiency with MS Office Suite, loan accounting, and general ledge systems
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Strong attention to detail and accuracy
  • Proven time management skills with a proactive approach to deadlines.

Preferred Requirements

  • CPA desired but not required
