The National Systems Group serves as the technical advisor to the Intelligence Community and its mission partners involved in the collection and distribution of national and tactical intelligence, including electronics programs, advanced technologies, ground and communications, imagery programs, and systems engineering and launch.

The mission of the Technology Development Department (TDD) is to discover, study, develop, and demonstrate the next generation of space technologies critical to national security. TDD employs the full suite of Aerospace's strategic, technical, and laboratory capabilities to assist the R&D organization of a large intelligence agency. TDD is seeking a motivated engineer or scientist to serve as an Advanced Research Studies Engineer (Senior Project Engineer - Multi-Disciplinary Engineering) leading studies on space architectures and technologies in support of senior leadership, leveraging ETG expertise to advise the Government.

Work Model

This is a full-time position based in Chantilly, which requires 100% onsite work.

What You'll Be Doing

  • Coordinating diverse studies ranging across phenomenologies and technologies, breaking down complex questions into manageable components to bring data-driven results to the nation's hardest problems.
  • Engaging Aerospace's premier analysis, simulation, and laboratory resources in the Engineering and Technology Group (ETG) matrix and consolidating assessments from Subject Matter Experts within these organizations into cohesive, impactful, and actionable findings for the customer.
  • Interacting frequently with government, SETA, and contractor personnel as part of a small team in a fast-paced environment.

What You Need to be Successful

Minimum Requirements for Senior Project Engineer- Multi-Disciplinary Engineering:

  • Bachelor's degree in science, engineering, mathematics, or a related technical field.
  • A minimum of 10 years of relevant experience.
  • Experience in technical project management, scoping projects and leveraging inter-disciplinary teams.
  • Demonstrated expertise in cutting edge technology applicable to remote sensing, communications, or computation as applied to space systems.
  • Experience in Geospatial intelligence (GEOINT) OR signals intelligence (SIGINT) technologies.
  • Ability to be proactive, think strategically, and anticipate needs.
  • Willing to travel domestically approximately 10% of time.
  • This position requires a current and active TS/SCI security clearance and polygraph, which is issued by the US government. U.S citizenship is required to obtain a security clearance.

How You Can Stand Out

It would be impressive if you have one or more of these:

  • Advanced degree in science, engineering, mathematics, or a related technical field.
  • Direct experience with government or commercial space systems.
  • Experience in one or more of the following areas:
    • Familiarity with AI/ML applications and implementation
    • High-performance computing
    • Optics
    • Photonics
    • Position, navigation, and timing (PNT) technologies
    • Prototyping, CubeSats, and space experiments
    • Materials science
