Description The Environmental Services Program Director is responsible for the effective direction, management, and operation of the educational, extended campus, sustainability, contract management and process improvement functions of the Environmental Services Department to support maintenance of a clean and safe medical center environment. Partner with the Operations Director EVS to ensure all applicable legal, regulatory , and policy requirements, including JCAHO, state, and federal and local regulations and guidelines (i.e. OSHA, HAZMA T , DOH, EP A) are met. Manages all EVS vendor contracts.
Qualifications Minimum Education
Bachelor's Degree Business Management or other health-related field (Required)

Minimum Work Experience
5 years Hospital experience (Required)
3 years Acute care hospital management experience (Required)
2 years Project managment experience (Preferred)
2 years Children's hospital experience (Preferred)
2 years Experience in managing and negotiating external contracts. (Required)

Required Skills/Knowledge
Knowledge of all applicable legal, regulatory, and policy requirements, including JCAHO, state, and federal and local regulations and guidelines (i.e. OSHA, HAZMAT , DOH, EPA).
Understanding of infection control requirements as they relate to Environmental Services functions.
The ability to present ideas and information in a concise, timely, effective and interpersonally appropriate manner through written and oral form.
Ability to concisely organize projects and ensure deliverables are completed in a timely, cost effective manner

Required Licenses and Certifications
Certified Healthcare Environmental Services Professional (CHESP) or Certificate of Mastery in Infection Prevention (CMIP) (Preferred)

Functional Accountabilities
Leadership
  • Manage $7+ Million vendor portfolio ensuring regular contract reviews and identifying opportunities for improved services, quality and financial outcomes for CNH
  • Oversee EVS operations at extended campus locations as well as the Linen department serving all sites
  • Lead educational content development and oversee training program for all EVS staff - all shifts, all sites
  • Manage sustainability efforts of the organization including compliance with organizational commitments and emerging regulatory guidelines
  • Collaborate with the Operations Director EVS and Vice President of Operations on significant issues or barriers.
  • Partner with the Operations Director EVS to annually develop, communicate and coordinate area specific strategic plans that are consistent with organizational goals, vision, and mission statement; produce positive outcomes related to the strategic planning initiative on an annual basis.
  • Ensure that a safe work environment is maintained.
  • Provide leadership and guidance to support staff and direct reports.
  • Ensure departmental compliance with the hospital's administrative and professional policies, and governmental and accreditation regulations.
  • Lead development of policies and procedures regarding EVS cleaning protocols
  • Serve as departmental leader on call in rotation with other managers and above in the department.
Program Management
  • Direct overall operational functions for extended campuses to ensure efficient operations.
  • Facilitate, and participate in, ongoing teams designed to plan, communicate, implement, and evaluate optimal support services.
  • Vendor contract management ensuring vendors adhere to terms of agreements, monitoring metrics and escalating concerns as appropriate (waste/sharps, linen, pest control etc)
  • Manage offsite EVS as well as Linen services for all sites; supervise managers and administrators responsible for the operations of Environmental Services throughout the off site clinics.
  • Manage projects within the EVS department to ensure deliverables are met in a timely manner in support of departmental and organizational goals
Process Improvement and HR Management
  • Oversee educational plan development for EVS staff to ensure ongoing training is compliant and advancing hospital safety, quality and customer service expectations
  • Improve processes and tools such as:* Staffing assignment system implementation and management* Report card/dashboard development in alignment with Infection Control leadership* Supervisor shift change and rounds checklists to improve quality of room cleanliness and adherence to infection control guidelines* Cart supply checks* Deployment of electronic tools to EVS teams - e.g. Ipads* Patient Room cleaning turn around times* Floor care planning, tracking and communication
  • Recommend and develop new processes and systems to meet departmental needs.
  • Support continuing education of staff in competency development in areas of defined responsibility.
Financial Management
  • Prepare, coordinate and administer annual expense budget for assigned functions.
  • Monitor performance reports and budget variances.
  • Project volume and needs, justify variances, and initiate corrective actions to adjust variances accordingly.
  • Develop recommendations to facilitate meeting budget requirements.
  • Collaborate in the development and presentation of annual administrative capital equipment and renovation budget, and subsequent purchases and renovations during fiscal year.
