Responsibilities

We are seeking a highly skilled Systems Administrator to support our Intelligence Community customer in the Washington D.C., Maryland, and Virginia area. The candidate will play a critical role in ensuring systems are fully operational and available at all times, rapidly troubleshooting and resolving technical issues, and managing tickets and customer interactions. This is a customer-facing role with frequent direct communication with the client, requiring a proactive approach to system management and support.

Key Responsibilities:

    System Support: Ensure high system availability and operational performance. Troubleshoot and resolve network and application performance issues promptly.
  • Ticketing System: Manage and resolve systems issues through a ticketing tracking system, ensuring all incidents are documented and tracked through completion.
  • Customer Interaction: Regularly interact with the government customer, contractor project leads, ISSO, and end users to understand requirements and provide timely support.
  • Patching and Updates: Perform monthly patching and system updates during off-hours, ensuring that systems are kept up-to-date and secure.
  • System Hardening and Security: Implement and manage system hardening measures through the application of Security Technical Implementation Guides (STIG) and regular patching to maintain system security compliance.
  • Documentation: Generate and maintain critical system documentation, including Standard Operating Procedures (SOP), Security Test Procedures (STP), System Installation Procedures (SIP), and System Administration Guides (SAG). Ensure that complex system configurations are clearly documented for clarity and ease of understanding.
  • Software and Database Management: Deploy, configure, and maintain software and applications, including Oracle database environments on Windows and CentOS servers.


Qualifications

Required Qualifications:

  • Security Clearance: TS/SCI with polygraph clearance adjudication or an active TS clearance with the ability to obtain SCI and pass a polygraph.
  • Experience: Bachelor's degree in a field of study applicable to the position with 2+ years of relevant experience. Additional 4 years experience may be considered in lieu of degree.
  • Certifications: Active Security+ (DoD 8570 Baseline certification for IAT Level 2) required.
  • System Administration: Experience in the installation, configuration, and maintenance of systems, with proficiency in Windows 2016 or higher, Red Hat Linux 8 or higher, and familiarity with VMware.
  • Database Management: Experience managing applications built on SQL Server or Oracle databases.
  • Scripting: Ability to write and maintain PowerShell scripts for system monitoring, data mining, and log management.
  • STIG Implementation: Demonstrated experience in the implementation of Security Technical Implementation Guides (STIG) for system hardening.
  • Cloud & Virtualization: Experience with Amazon Web Services (AWS) and virtualization tools such as VMware.
  • Maintenance and Monitoring: Strong background in maintaining system performance, performing after-hour maintenance tasks, and patching systems to mitigate bugs and vulnerabilities.

Desired Qualifications:

  • Ability to work collaboratively within a team environment.
  • Strong problem-solving skills with the ability to anticipate potential issues and proactively take action.
  • Familiarity with Tomcat 8.5+ and Java Open JDK/JRE 11+ environments.
  • Experience with advanced troubleshooting for server-based applications and IT infrastructure components.

Target Salary Range

$86,000 - $138,000. This represents the typical salary range for this position based on experience and other factors.
