Learn more about the UC Office of the President DEPARTMENT OVERVIEW At the California Digital Library (CDL), we believe that the library, in all its forms, enables and advances the critical work of students, scholars, and the public. As a University of California systemwide organization, CDL provides services to and on behalf of the UC system, in partnership and collaboration with the ten UC campus libraries. The user base for CDL services and programs includes UC faculty, students, and library staff; the patrons of the consortia in which the UC Libraries participate; and the many people worldwide who benefit from UC's open access offerings. The California Digital Library has four core programs: Shared Collections; Discovery & Delivery; Publishing, Archives, and Digitization; and the UC Curation Center (UC3). The CDL is a unit within the UC Office of the President, has a staff of 75+ and is located in downtown Oakland. POSITION SUMMARY This is a TEMPORARY position within our Temporary Office of the President Staffing (TOPS) program. As a member of the California Digital Library's Shared Collections program, the Project Manager will be a primary contributor to CDL's current efforts to develop and implement project plans in two arenas: compliance with Department of Justice revised Title II of the Americans with Disability Act (ADA) regulations for accessibility standards as they relate to the University Libraries' licensing of electronic resources, and the Systemwide OA Author Fund Pilot - a pilot project to fund open access (OA) publication fees in support of authors who wish to publish journal articles. The Project Manager will develop a well-documented process for incorporating new DOJ Title II requirements into ongoing license negotiations, including drafting timelines, project plans, and documentation to enable efficient review and decision-making by stakeholders; communicating and reporting on project status; and interfacing with CDL Shared Collections licensing and electronic resource teams. The Systemwide OA Author Fund Pilot project proposal has been approved and funded; the Project Manager will assist in building out the project plan and launching the pilot, in collaboration with three UC Libraries' systemwide teams and members of the CDL Shared Collections open access team. Both project plans - DOJ Title II and the OA Author Fund Pilot - are expected to be multiyear in scope and will be passed off to the permanent service owners for ongoing development and operationalization. SALARY AND BENEFITS The University of California, Office of the President, is required to provide a reasonable estimate of the compensation range for this role. This range takes into account the wide range of factors that are considered in making compensation decisions including but not limited to experience, skills, knowledge, abilities, education, licensure and certifications, and other business and organizational needs It is not typical for an individual to be offered a salary at or near the top of the salary grade for a position. The full salary range shows the growth potential for this position.
