Telemedicine Medical Assistants are responsible for the first point of contact with our patients prior to seeing a provider during their virtual visit. Our goal is to set a professional and welcoming tone for each Telemedicine visit, and our team must be able to work to record the patient's information and convey the assurance that our clinical staff are just what they need to feel better accurately and efficiently.

Primary Responsibilities:



  • Constantly strive to provide a high-quality customer service experience for our patients
  • Verify demographic information, insurance coverage and scheduling patients using APM system
  • Register new patients by gathering pertinent information and entering in APM system
  • Complete overnight appointment arrivals in APM system
  • E-waiting room management
  • Provide prompt, professional, and friendly front-line support for technical and non-urgent clinical issues
  • Submit TouchWorks MD Charges encounter forms
  • Professionally answer e-mails, e-visits, phone calls, and Tiger Text messages as appropriate
  • Reliably troubleshoot American Well customer service escalation
  • Work collaboratively with the patient accounts, customer service, clinical team and administration teams
  • Obtain brief summary of patients concerns and/or complaints
  • Reliably identify clinical concerns within your scope and escalate to a licensed clinician
  • Address and complete tasks, referrals, and stats on a daily basis
  • Perform data entry, document accurately and efficiently within all systems
  • Complete prescription refills for authorization by provider and protocol
  • Provide prescription information to pharmacies
  • Document all medical questions and messages for providers and label them properly using our telephone communication access guideline/protocol
  • Communicate with offices when necessary
  • Meet established standards within all performance criteria
  • Attend any necessary training/meetings to be up to date on protocol changes and available training
  • Other duties may include, but not limited to, missing charges, work lists, e-faxing, etc.
  • Additional duties to be assigned at managers discretion

Required Qualifications:



  • High school graduate or GED
  • Completion of a Medical Assistant program, or relevant experience
  • Current CPR and / or BLS certification or ability to obtain certification within 30 days of hire
  • Access to reliable transportation



Preferred Qualifications:



  • Completion of a Medical Assistant program or relevant experience
  • BLS certification or must be able to complete certification within 30 days of hire
  • 1+ years of experience in an ambulatory care setting or successful completion of the OptumCare NV MA Externship Program



Working Conditions:



  • Remote/telecommuter environment. Ability to pass FIT testing and wear N95/N99 OSHA protective mask as deemed by OptumCare NV in the course of work at the clinic. Moderate to heavy use of phone and computer usage. Ability to attend scheduled meetings and training in person as determined by manager. Must be flexible with schedule changes to reflect shifts in demand for department.

The hourly range for this role is $16.00 to $28.85 per hour based on full-time employment. Pay is based on several factors including but not limited to local labor markets, education, work experience, certifications, etc. UnitedHealth Group complies with all minimum wage laws as applicable.
