Summary

The Engineering Project Leader III will be responsible for leading projects that identify opportunities for cost reduction, quality improvements, increased value and material cost-out directives. Along with other responsibilities, this position will provide technical expertise to others within the organization.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Manage VAVE/MCO projects driving a cross functional team to navigate uncertainties, allocate resources efficiently, and overcome challenges head-on. This requires utilizing a local and remote design engineering resources.
  • Develop and implement innovative solutions and design modifications that enhance product functionality, reduce costs, and improve manufacturability.
  • Collaborate with local quality and local manufacturing to gather data and insights on supplier performance and internal manufacturing processes to identify areas for optimization and improvement.
  • Collaborate with global sourcing and global suppliers to identify alternative materials, components, or manufacturing methods that offer cost and quality advantages.
  • Conduct workshops and facilitate brainstorming sessions to generate ideas for cost reduction, value enhancement, development of tech-blocks and customer-focused solutions.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure smooth implementation of project deliverables.
  • Use of project management tools, computer aided design, analysis tools to cost-optimize designs in an efficient manner.
  • Position requires 5-10% travel.

Education and Experience Requirements

  • 4-year degree in an Engineering discipline (BSME or BSEE preferred).
  • 5-10 years required experience in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Design Engineering, or related field.
  • Understanding of how to interpret and establish geometric tolerancing on detail drawings.
  • Understanding of statistical dimension control.
  • Strong Project Management skills and the ability to develop a project schedule and determine the critical path for a project.
  • Subject-matter expert in one or more actuator-related technologies: heat treatment of steels, thread rolling processes, die-casting, powder metal technology, gear manufacturing, bearing assembly is a plus.
  • Proficient in Solidworks.
  • Proficient in all common Office 365 tools: Excel, Word, Teams, Outlook.
  • Expertise in development and/or use of multiple design tools, costing tools and programs
  • Expert understanding of design, product development, and manufacturing principles
  • Willing to step in to assist team in completing tasks.
  • Ability to support and collaborate with other functional departments.
  • Ability to engage with customers and suppliers to develop new technical designs/specifications.
  • Ability to solve complex problems.
  • Project management software such as Wrike or Microsoft Project a plus.

Physical Demand and Work Environment

Physical Demands - while performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to use hands; reach with hands and arms; and talk or hear. The employee is frequently required to stand, walk, and sit.

Work Environment - Collaborative office environment. The position is on-site Marengo with infrequent work-from home opportunities.

Travel- Up to 10% time. Must be willing to travel by all forms of transportation.

Expected salary: $75,000 - $106,000 annually. The salary range provided is intended to display the value of the company's base pay compensation for all statewide locations across the United States. Salary is dependent on a multitude of factors, including but not limited to the physical worksite location, candidate's skill set, level of experience, education, and internal peer compensation comparisons.
