About the role
The Senior Product Owner represents the business vision and customer problems to be solved for improvements on a sophisticated system or platform or multiple systems. The Senior Product Owner conveys the vision to the scrum team and provides direction on priorities and work to be delivered. The Senior Product Owner is responsible for maintaining a healthy, prioritized backlog, writing user stories and acceptance criteria, and collaborating with the delivery team to commit to work items for a sprint. The Senior Product Owner acts as a liaison between business, customer, and technology, clarifying needs and how to translate those needs into user stories. The Senior Product Owner uses data and insights in dialog with leaders to ensure that solutions that will bring the most value are prioritized and successfully deprioritizes requests that do not align to the stated outcomes. The Senior Product owner maintains focus on the end user and/or customer and incorporates information from customer interviews, feedback sessions, and user testing or other customer research methods. The Senior Product Owner is responsible for a larger or more sophisticated products and may provide oversight and leadership to more junior Product Owners.

What you will do



  • Own and regularly maintain a healthy product backlog for one or more pods.
  • Understand and document business outcomes in features and user stories, writes and explains user stories to the agile team.
  • Prioritize work items in the backlog based on customer value and business outcomes.
  • Articulate the user, needs, business outcome, and acceptance criteria for each user story.
  • Collaborate on release plan goals. Ensure scope for each release is clear, well communicated, and aligned with strategic objectives. Approve work items as ready for release.
  • Work with the delivery team and Scrum Master to remove impediments and works to identify long term improvements to recurring processes. .
  • Act as the voice of the customer within the agile team, and maintains clear, bi-directional communication between business stakeholders, Digital Product Managers, and the agile teams.
  • Understand and incorporate non-functional improvements to the system and can articulate the value of these activities to a variety of stakeholders.
  • Possess and provide commanding knowledge on the system being developed and communicates impact of the changes.

Compensation
Salary Range: $103,300 - $172,200 plus eligibility for annual bonus program.

Who you are



  • 5+ years' experience as a Product Owner or subject matter expert representing the business need and priorities to a technology team.
  • Advanced understanding of enterprise systems. 4 or more years' experience working as a member of an agile team on product execution.
  • 3+ years' experience working within Group Benefits claims departments. Salesforce or more specifically ClaimVantage experience strongly preferred.
  • Advanced analytical thinking and problem solving.
  • Ability to take abstract and ambiguous information and organize into meaningful facts for business partners to understand.
  • Superb communication skills; ability to communicate effectively with technical and business teams and executive management.
  • Strong negotiation and consensus building skills when dealing with internal customers, stakeholders and team members.
  • Certified Scrum Product Owner (CSPO) or equivalent or ability to achieve within 6 months.
