Job Summary

The Director of Engineering and Facilities is a high-impact strategic leadership role responsible for overseeing and advancing all engineering and facilities operations at DiaSorin. This position requires a forward-thinking leader with a strong vision to drive innovation, a commitment to compliance with regulatory standards, and optimize operational efficiency across the organization. The Director will oversee the successful execution of complex engineering and facilities projects, manage and develop a multidisciplinary team, and play a crucial role in shaping the future direction of engineering and facilities management within the company.

Key Duties and Responsibilities



  • Develop and execute the strategic vision for engineering and facilities operations, aligning initiatives with overall business objectives.
  • Foster a culture of innovation, collaboration, and continuous improvement across engineering and facilities teams.
  • Oversee and manage all construction needs, remodeling, painting, and refinishing of facilities, ensuring that projects align with DiaSorin business requirements and are completed without disrupting daily operations.
  • Ensure the effective coordination of all work order requests submitted to Facilities/Maintenance, ensuring timely responses and resolution of issues to maintain operational efficiency.
  • Implement and oversee a comprehensive preventive maintenance program for all facility systems, including HVAC, ensuring optimal performance and compliance with safety regulations.
  • Supervise the maintenance and calibration of company equipment, including air conditioning systems and fleet vehicles, to ensure reliability and longevity.
  • Oversee routine inspections of facilities, including opening and de-alarming procedures, and proactively address any apparent issues to ensure safety and functionality.
  • Select, monitor, and manage outside contractors and vendors for facility projects and maintenance services, ensuring compliance with company standards and regulations.
  • Oversee the installation of all new equipment, ensuring that all installations meet applicable requirements and industry standards.
  • Supervise the maintenance and organization of the company's offsite storage facilities, ensuring they are secure, accessible, and compliant with relevant regulations.
  • Lead efforts to implement sustainable practices within facilities management, including energy efficiency projects and waste reduction programs.
  • Lead a multidisciplinary group of leaders and contributors in maintenance engineering, process development engineering, metrology, and manufacturing engineering. Foster a collaborative environment that encourages innovation and high performance.
  • Oversee the validation and revalidation of manufacturing equipment and processes, ensuring compliance with industry regulations and internal standards. Implement robust validation strategies that support product quality and reliability throughout the manufacturing lifecycle.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams on NPI projects, ensuring that engineering solutions are effectively integrated into product development processes. Facilitate the smooth transition of new products from development to production through comprehensive validation plans.
  • Drive innovation initiatives by identifying opportunities for process improvements, technology advancements, and product enhancements. Encourage teams to explore new methodologies, tools, and technologies that can enhance operational efficiency and product quality.
  • Manage the scale-up of new processes and technologies from pilot to full production, ensuring that all necessary validations are conducted to support successful implementation. Work closely with NPI teams and vendors to align design for manufacturing (DFM) concepts with production requirements.
  • Utilize data analytics to monitor and evaluate the performance of engineering processes, identifying trends and areas for improvement. Leverage insights to inform validation strategies and support continuous improvement efforts.
  • Collaborate with quality assurance, regulatory affairs, and production teams to ensure that all engineering initiatives align with compliance requirements and support organizational goals. Facilitate communication and coordination among departments to drive project success.
  • Assess and mitigate risks associated with engineering projects, validation processes, and new technology implementations. Develop contingency plans to address potential challenges that may impact project timelines or outcomes.
  • Build, mentor, and retain high-performing teams by fostering a culture of accountability, flexibility, and transparency.
  • Establish performance metrics and conduct regular evaluations to ensure alignment with company goals and facilitate professional growth.
  • Lead continuous improvement efforts to enhance product quality, reduce costs, and streamline processes through the implementation of lean manufacturing techniques.
  • Analyze operational data to identify trends and drive decision-making that improves reproducibility and efficiency.
  • Ensure all engineering and facilities operations comply with applicable regulations (FDA, ISO, EHS) and industry standards.
  • Promote a proactive safety culture, implementing policies and training programs that prioritize employee health and safety.
  • Oversee the development and maintenance of specifications, procedures, and protocols to ensure compliance and operational excellence.
  • Lead internal and external audit processes, ensuring all documentation is accurate and up to date.
  • Develop and manage budgets for engineering and facilities operations, ensuring effective resource allocation and financial accountability.
  • Oversee budgeting for engineering scale-up projects, ensuring that financial resources are aligned with project goals and timelines.
  • Monitor expenses and implement cost-saving measures across both facilities and engineering initiatives without compromising quality or safety.
  • Provide strategic recommendations to senior management regarding opportunities and risks, proposing innovative solutions to improve operational effectiveness and customer service.
  • Collaborate with other manufacturing support functions, including Production, Tech Ops, SD&I, Facilities/EHS, QA, and RA, to ensure cohesive operational performance.
  • Other duties as assigned



Education, Experience, and Qualifications



  • Bachelor's Degree Engineering, Facilities Management, or a related field required
  • Master's Degree Engineering, Facilities Management, or a related field preferred


  • 10+ Years Engineering and facilities management, with a significant focus on leadership roles in a regulated environment. required
  • 6+ Years Proven track record of successfully managing multidisciplinary teams and large-scale projects. required


Training and Skills



  • Strong understanding of regulatory requirements, industry standards, and best practices in engineering and facilities management. (High proficiency)
  • Exceptional communication, strategic thinking, and problem-solving skills. (High proficiency)



Travel Requirements



  • 10% Domestic and International



Salary Range

The salaryrange for this position is $109,498.00-$180,000.00 annually.The salary range for this role represents the numerous factors considered in the hiring decisions including, but not limited to, educations, skills, work experience, certifications, etc. Beyond base salary, Diasorin offers a competitive rewards package focused on your overall well-being. Benefits may vary by role, country, region, union status, and other employment status factors. You may also be eligible to participate in an annual incentive program.
