Posting Summary |
Rutgers, The State University of New Jersey, is seeking an Assistant Director of Financial Operations for the Finance Office at the Robert Wood Johnson Medical School.
Responsible for Sponsored Research Administration for
RWJMS grants and contracts totaling $73 Million. Assists with the development of the annual
RWJMS budget ($567 Million). Performs general accounting functions, reconciliations, analyses and prepares ad-hoc financial reports. Assists with the development, implementation and monitoring of
RWJMS financial policies and procedures.
Among the key duties of this position are the following:
- Directs and manages the RWJMS Research Support Team which includes Senior Grants Administrators, Grants Administrators and Financial Analysts. The Research Support Team administers the grants and contracts for the Clinical Departments, Research Institutes (CARE-PC, CHINJ & RINTS) and the Dean's Offices (Education, Community Health and Global Health).
- Collaborates with the RWJMS Director of Financial Operations and Research Support Team, as well as central Rutgers University offices, to provide comprehensive budget and finance services for the respective departmental communities.
- Coordinates compilation and review of the respective annual grants/research budgets prepared by Research Support Team with specific attention to ensure accuracy, adherence to relevant polices, consistency and reasonableness (execution & oversight).
- Serves as the primary RWJMS representative to the Office of Research & Sponsored Programs (pre-award) and Research Financial Services (post-award) and the RWJMS Research Office regarding all restricted account and sponsored program activity.
- Oversees and coordinates the submission and approval of proposals for federal, state, local and private grants and contracts for faculty and staff projects in research, instruction, and service.
- Ensures proposals are compliant with the guidelines for sponsoring agencies, Rutgers University and RWJMS.

Qualifications
Minimum Education and Experience |
- Master's Degree in Business Administration or business related discipline.
- A minimum of five (5) years of progressive financial management experience preferably in an academic environment.
- Equivalent education, experience and/or training may be substituted for the degree requirement.
