Stellar has an opportunity for a Space Systems Engineer in Colorado Springs, CO to provide Systems Engineering and Technical Advisory (SETA) services focused on protection of space systems and support for systems engineering activities.



Role/Responsibilities/Qualifications

The successful candidate will:

    Directly contribute to government's mission success through comprehensive analysis, thought leadership and proactive action
  • Apply relevant space operations experience to conduct threat assessments and develop courses of actions; examine and develop tactics, techniques, and procedures to support operational objectives
  • Assess space protection doctrine, strategies, and plans; provide vetted analysis and recommendations to improve space protection architectures and capabilities
  • Assess mission and contribute to protection doctrine, strategies, plans, architectures, and associated requirements
  • Monitor and evaluate war games and exercises (participate if requested); capture and assess lessons learned for best practice implementation to further improve space protection efforts
  • Oversee integration of space protection functions and capabilities of delivered systems; provide analysis of schedules, capabilities delivered meet operational needs
  • Assist in planning and oversight of the government's systems engineering efforts
  • Review documentation, represent government as required in forums that support streamlined delivery of new capabilities and standardization of integration efforts

Required:

  • US Citizenship
  • Active TS/SCI clearance with polygraph
  • Bachelor's Degree in Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics (STEM) or relevant field, and nine (9) years or more experience; Masters in STEM or relevant field, and seven (7) years or more experience
  • Experience in systems engineering processes (e.g. SE lifecycle, risk management, change management, etc.)
  • Thorough knowledge of orbital analysis; readily articulates pros/cons of orbital changes
  • Strong understanding of integrating Government capabilities into operations baseline
  • Working knowledge of joint operations planning processes
  • Knowledge of satellite constellations, spacecraft orbit, and ground station characteristics
  • In-depth knowledge of space vehicle components; Satellite Control Network and related terrestrial space control systems
  • Expert at defining solutions for broad, abstract topics; succinctly captures issues for the customer and provides analysis and recommendations
  • Ability to work independently and with a team; operate effectively with contractor, SETA, FFRDC, and Government teammates
  • Self-starter, anticipates and proactively addresses customer requirements with no supervision; ability to manage multiple tasks and deliverables
  • Polished communicator (written/verbal) with impeccable interpersonal skills and personal judgment
  • Master at collaboration and coordination with multiple stakeholders -- consensus builder

Desired:

  • Real-time operations experience as a spacecraft or ground systems operator
  • Familiar with MBSE/Digital Engineering, AGILE development, cloud technologies
  • Experience with Jira, Confluence

The typical salary pay range for this position is USD $150,000 - $200,000 per year plus a significant, company funded profit-sharing retirement savings plan. Individual pay is determined by many factors including work location, job-related skills, experience, and relevant education or training. This position is also eligible for a discretionary annual performance bonus and a full benefits package.
