JOB SUMMARY: The Date Scroll and Small Product Processor is responsible for a myriad of functions that are normally done by separate people for the larger products. The position requires skills of inspecting and prefinishing by sawing, drilling and grinding products per work order and production needs; requires managing and maintaining an adequate inventory of stock items to meet demand.

WHAT YOU'LL BE DOING:

  • Use cart to transfer batches of date scrolls and other small products from the cut-off saw to the Finishing Department.
  • Separate date scrolls and other small stock items/product orders by cutting and trimming them with the saw.
  • Inspect castings to ensure they meet specifications and are defect free.
  • Cut and trim vase rings, Back to Nature Covers, vase handles and sample plaques.
  • Manually manage drill patterns and match to product work orders, then drill holes in items, as required, using the correct size drill bit (6 plus variations).
  • Verify that the pattern, date scrolls, spelling, punctuation, emblems, character font and size are correct per work order.
  • Scan work orders into the JDE system to generate barcode labels and affix to the plate as required.
  • Pull and label all loose year date only scrolls with the correct paint color per work order.
  • Label date scrolls with the correct paint color per the work order.
  • Deliver date scrolls, vase rings, and corresponding work orders to different equipment
  • Prepare customized rubbings (special-order date scrolls) according to the work order by measuring, cutting, drilling and grinding them.


EXPERIENCE

  • 6 months experience in other foundry finishing positions


SKILLS & KNOWLEDGE

  • Must have good hand-eye coordination.
  • Ability to perform a variety of duties, often changing from one task to another, to avoid interruptions in production.
  • Excellent problem solving and critical thinking skills, with an emphasis in time management, improving efficiencies and exercising independent judgment to determine work priority and urgency.
  • Must be able to read work orders or production tickets, which may include dimensional drawings alongside general math skills
  • Ability to read a tape measure (imperial and metric)
  • Work as a self-motivated team member who adheres to all safety protocols and is willing to cross-train as needed.
