As a Mid-Career Data Modeling Developer in Kennesaw or Atlanta, GA, you will be part of our geotechnical and geoenvironmental practice, and information management practice and work with our team of consulting engineers and scientists in addressing our clients' data management needs. The candidate will support our ongoing operations through a focus on frontend, backend software development, database management and other tools to compile, visualize and analyze data from a variety of streaming and static sources; build interactive dashboards and reports; and assist with the design, development, and implementation of new products and services for our clients.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

    Collaborate with multidisciplinary internal teams and external clients to develop integrated data management and visualization solutions for civil, geotechnical, environmental engineering, and geoscience projects;
  • Write clean, efficient, and well-documented code while following best practices, conducting internal code reviews, and assisting in troubleshooting and debugging.
  • Develop and follow technical documentation, including user guides, API documentation, and project specifications;
  • Design, develop, and maintain interactive and responsive data visualization components using React, TypeScript, or similar frameworks/libraries.
  • Developing Python scripts for data analysis and automation of engineering analysis;
  • Integrate frontend components with backend APIs and services for seamless data interactions;
  • Optimize web applications for performance, accessibility, and cross-browser compatibility;
  • Work with mapping and GIS-based tools (e.g., ArcGIS Online, ArcGIS Pro, open-source GIS software) to visualize spatial data;
  • Assist in developing mobile-friendly and progressive web applications for data collection and analysis from static or dynamic data sources;
  • Ensure UI/UX best practices to improve user experience and workflow efficiency.
  • Develop, manage, and maintain relational database applications for data storage and retrieval, ensuring performance, scalability, and security;
  • Implement and maintain RESTful APIs and backend services to support frontend applications;
  • Automate engineering data analysis processes using Python, VBA, Microsoft PowerAutomate, Microsoft Copilot, Azure AI, and other similar scripting languages/platforms;
  • Design and optimize database schemas for handling large datasets efficiently.
  • Implement authentication, authorization, and role-based access control for secure data management;
  • Perform data processing, verification, and analysis for engineering and environmental applications;
  • Developing and using mobile data collection platforms, such as EQuIS Collect, Survey123, Collector for ArcGIS, ArcGIS Field Maps, and GPS equipment for data collection while performing fieldwork; and
  • Fieldwork such as CQA, instrumentation, soil, surface water and groundwater sampling and remediation treatment system operation and maintenance.


Education and Licensure

  • Bachelor's degree in geology or environmental, civil, or chemical engineering, Geosciences, GIS or Geography. (required)
  • Advanced degree in the same. (preferred)


Skills, Experience and Qualifications

  • At least 5 years (7+ years preferred) of related experience, or equivalent combination of education and experience. (required)
  • Experience in environmental field sampling, chemistry, data analysis and/or visualization. (preferred)
  • Programming skills with one of the programming languages such as Python, R, SQL, .NET, Java/JavaScript, and VBA. (required)
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills. (required)
  • Experience with React, TypeScript (preferred)
  • Knowledge of data dashboard and BI tool development. (required)
  • Experience with database technology such as Microsoft SQL Server and SQL Server Data Management Studio. (preferred)
  • Academic training in environmentally-related disciplines, such as geotechnical engineering, geology, civil/environmental engineering, water/natural resources, or environmental studies. (preferred)
  • Field work and overnight travel. (required)
  • Health & Safety training, medical monitoring, and client-driven drug and background testing. (required)
  • Valid U.S. driver's license and satisfactory driving record for business travel. (required)
