Title:Assistant Professor of History Concentration:Early Modern Global and Modern European history Division: Provost's Office Department: College of Liberal Arts FLSA Status:Exempt Salary Range:Annual Salary EEO Job Group:2 C5 Position Summary The Department of History at the University of Southern Indiana, a public University in Evansville, Indiana, seeks applications for a tenure-track position at the Assistant Professor level in History. Appointment will begin Fall 2025. Duties/Responsibilities The Assistant Professor will be expected to engage in professional and university service activities and teach 12 credit hours per semester which includes undergraduate departmental course offerings in European and Environmental history and History Teaching Pedagogy. The candidate will specialize in Early Modern Global and Modern European history, and engage in diplomatic history, history of religion, border and migration history, environmental history, and gender history. In addition to these specialties, the department seeks a candidate with background in secondary education, with a proven record of middle and high school teaching, who can teach secondary education history pedagogy courses. Required Knowledge and Skills Applicants must hold a doctoral degree in History or a closely related field. ABD candidates will be considered at the rank of Instructor if the terminal degree will be completed by the end of their first year of employment. If employment starts in August 2025, terminal degree must be completed by the end of July 2026.
