Schedule: 5am-3pm or 6am-4pm, Monday-Thursday

Position

The Production Manager provides leadership and direction to ensure efficient and uniform manufacturing operations that will meet customer expectations. Develops policies, processes and systems that ensure a high level of quality, productivity and safety, while ensuring on time delivery of products.

Responsibilities

  • Provide direction and coordinate the operations of the manufacturing floor, and have consistent communication with other departments on needs, priorities and issues.
  • Set up production floor space for new programs, and be a key contributor on new product introductions (NPI) from statement of work (SOW) to mass production.
  • Organizes programs to plan, schedule, support, and improve manufacturing efforts and enhances value-add operations while reducing and eliminating non-value-added activities.
  • Maintain a production facility in which cleanliness, quality, and safety are second to none.
  • Lead regular communications with the team pertaining to company and department performance, with the goal of improving throughput and reducing waste.
  • Coach, mentor and develop team to investigate the root cause for scrap and RMA issues; work with teams, including engineering and quality to establish corrective actions and prevent recurrences.
  • Reduce variation in the work environment through the implementation of Lean tools including 5S tools, Kanban, standard work, etc.
  • Develop standard work for departmental processes. Review work instructions through change request process with the goal of standardization.
  • Set benchmarks and standards, and guide the improvement of quality standards of products produced in the shop.
  • Plan, develop, facilitate, and implement continuous improvement and lean manufacturing.

Qualifications

  • Applied technical knowledge related to the field of manufacturing.
  • Experience setting up production floor space for new programs and new product introductions.
  • Demonstrated skills and understanding of continuous improvement methods to enhance safety, on-time delivery, cost, and quality of products.
  • Advanced leadership skills. Able to successfully coach, mentor, develop and foster high-performing and engaged teams.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills, both written and verbal, with the ability to communicate effectively with a diverse community of customers, employees at all levels, and leadership using various methods (telephone, written form, email, or in person).
  • Ability to read and interpret manufacturing blueprints, plans, and specifications.
  • Ability to read and write manufacturing reports and correspondence.
  • Capacity to comprehend detailed and complex information and ideas, and interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.
  • Ability to multi-task, follow-through, and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
  • Capacity to work under pressure while maintaining perspective.
  • Excellent practical problem solving skills and ability to deal with a variety of variables in situations where only limited standardization exists.
  • Strong operational thinking that moves the organization's vision and goals to successful implementation.

Education

  • Bachelor Degree or 4-year technical degree in manufacturing field.
  • Equivalent experience may be used in lieu of above requirement.

Experience

  • 5 - 10 years of experience directly related to the duties and responsibilities specified in a lean manufacturing environment.
  • Manufacturing floor experience developing manufacturing technicians and operators.
  • Aerospace experience preferred.

Computer Skills

  • Knowledge of MRP system strongly desired.
  • Intermediate skill level with Microsoft Office Suite required.

Working Conditions

While performing the typical duties of this job, employees will experience the conditions noted below. PPE is provided to protect employees against physical harm or hazards in the workplace environment.

  • Usually work indoors. These sites may not be temperature controlled
  • Exposure to loud sounds and distracting noise levels
  • Exposure to hazardous equipment
  • Exposure to contaminants
  • Shared workspaces with other employees
  • Requires handling objects of up to 30 lbs.
  • Lifting, pushing, pulling, and bending
  • Standing and/or walking for 8 to 12 or more hours per day (varies based on role, shift, and overtime)

Required PPE (Personal Protective Equipment)

Required PPE provided by SEKISUI Aerospace based on the employee's position and exposure. Below are typical PPE used on the production floor. Appropriate PPE must be worn by all employees when on the production floor.

  • Ear Plugs - Earmuffs
  • Full Face Shield
  • Gloves (Latex, Rubber, Chemical Resistant, General Duty)
  • Protective Apron
  • Respirator
  • Safety Glasses - Safety Goggles

Pay

SEKISUI Aerospace is required by Washington law to include the pay for this role when hiring a Washington resident. Pay may be higher or lower for non-resident WA employees, based on the market data for their region, allowing us to pay employees competitively in different geographic markets.
