Position Purpose |
With specific direction, performs a variety of basic tasks involved with inspecting and testing of fire safety assets. Performs monthly testing and inspections of assets including fire extinguishers and sprinkler valves. Assists technicians with other testing and troubleshooting systems. Maintains records, reporting and entering data. |

- High school graduate or GED.
- Basic computer skills; able to enter data correctly and document inspections in database
- Must have a valid driver's license and be qualified under the terms of the Dartmouth College Driver Safety and Motor Vehicle Policy.

Preferred Qualifications |
- Experience related to mechanical, electrical or electronics fields helpful.
- Experience related to fire alarm or sprinkler systems desirable but not required. Basic skills associated with the maintenance and repair of fire safety systems including fire alarms and sprinkler systems preferred.
- Knowledge of NFPA 10 and 25 fire extinguisher standards.
- Skill in the use of hand tools and basic testing equipment preferred
- Ability to follow complex written and oral assignments and communicate effectively.
- Ability to work independently under minimal supervision, exercise sound judgment and have excellent problem solving skills.
- Willingness to cross-train in various trades related to the maintenance of fire safety systems.
- Must successfully complete and remain certified and compliant in all safety or trades related course work as may be required by the College.
- Willingness to work overtime as required.
- Customer service orientation.

Responsibilities
- Performs monthly testing and inspections of fire safety assets including fire extinguishers and sprinkler valves. Documents inspections in database.
- Confirms monthly fire extinguisher inspections.
- Under direction, assists with testing, maintenance and troubleshooting of fire safety systems.
- Aligns, adjusts and calibrates equipment according to manufacturer's recommendations.
- Maintains records of repairs, calibrations, and inspections.
- Confirms valves are secured in open position.
- Assists with set up and monitors public address systems for special events, sporting events, and other functions, many of which are during off hours.
