THE ORGANIZATION

Feeding Westchester is looking for people with the passion, courage, and creativity to create meaningful change in the lives of others. As a member of the Feeding America network of food banks and Westchester County's leading hunger relief organization, we moved nearly 22 million pounds of food to agencies and partners across Westchester County, including food pantries, soup kitchens, senior centers, and schools last fiscal year. We supplied 17 million meals to children, families, and seniors, mobilized 11,000 volunteers, and raised over $17 million in donations and government support to help end hunger.

Feeding Westchester's mission is to nourish our neighbors in the fight against hunger. As the heart of a network of more than 200 partners, we source and distribute food, and other resources, to communities across Westchester. We envision a community where all people have access to the food they need today, and the fundamental resources to build a better tomorrow.

THE OPPORTUNITY

Feeding Westchester is looking for a Fundraising Development Intern to join our team at Feeding Westchester for the summer! As a Fundraising Development Intern, you will be responsible for growing our movement to end hunger in Westchester County by increasing our supporter base, encouraging engagement, and driving fundraising revenue to further our hunger relief efforts. You will also be involved in overall marketing efforts by working closely with our marketing and communications team to maximize awareness of the Feeding Westchester brand and mission.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS & RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Assist in the coordination and organization of fundraising events and campaigns
  • Conduct research to identify potential donors, sponsors, and funding opportunities
  • Assist in the development of fundraising materials and management of platforms
  • Assist in the planning and execution of donor stewardship activities, such as donor recognition events
  • Provide support in maintaining relationships with donors and supporters, including sending regular updates and newsletters.
  • Assist in tracking and analyzing fundraising data and compiling reports for management.
  • Assist in donor prospecting and identification strategies, including attending networking events and researching potential partnerships.
  • Provide general administrative support to the fundraising department, such as scheduling meetings, managing calendars, and handling correspondence.
  • Work with Feeding Westchester's celebrity database to identify influential partners and develop innovative strategies to connect with their partners and grow our network
  • Work with relationship mapping tools to identify new supporter prospects

POSITION REQUIREMENTS

  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Strong analytical and research skills
  • Ability to problem solve and learn new concepts quickly
  • Strong planning and project management skills
  • Ability to work collaboratively with others in a team structure
  • Interest in influencer marketing, fundraising and nonprofit work; experience a plus
  • Passion for hunger relief
