Boiler Operator (Part Time)

Job Type: Part-Time

Location: Russel Research Center, Athens, Georgia

Min. Yrs. Experience: 2 Years

Experience substitution for education (if applicable): Yes

Pay: $31.44/hr. plus fringe benefit of $6.42/hr. additional $2.75/hr. in 401(k)

Hours: Weekend 3rd Shift (12-hour shift) 12a- 12p; Sat-Sun, plus fill in for other shifts

*Additional Shift differential pay if a majority of hours worked are in 2nd, 3rd, or weekend shift windows.

Job Description



  • Tending one or more boilers to produce steam or high-temperature water. Fires boiler, observes and interprets readings on gauges, meters, and charts, which register various aspects of boiler operation. Maintain a log in which various aspects of boiler operation are recorded; clean, oil, make minor repairs or assist in repair to boiler room equipment; and following prescribed methods, treat boiler water with chemicals and analyze boiler water for such things as acidity, caustic, and alkalinity.
  • Monitor and report facility alarms.
  • Fill in for other operators as needed to cover 1st, 2nd, and 3rd shifts.


Abilities/Skills/Knowledge Required by the Position



  • Must be able to operate and maintain one or more systems, that provide heat, air conditioning, refrigeration, steam or high-temperature water or electricity. Security rounds, other duties as assigned, overtime as required.
  • Needs to be familiar with Building Monitoring Systems
  • Proficient in Outlook


Supervisory Controls



  • Reports to Site Supervisor


Guidelines



  • Accomplish monthly PM's
  • Anticipate and troubleshoot the ongoing needs of the facility
